J o ž e Urbanija, Filozofska fa k u lte ta U niverze v Ljubljani, O d d e le k z a b ib liotekarstvo UDK 024+025.5/.6(497.4) Povzetek Avtor v prispevku prim erja komunikacijo med knjižnicami in uporabniki, ko knjižnica predstavlja subjekt, uporabniki pa objekt in v prim eru, ko so uporabniki subjekt, knjižnica pa objekt ter nakaže sprem em be, ki bi se zgodile, če bi tok odnosov potekal v večji meri od uporabnikov proti knjižnicam. Razmišljanje povezuje z likom S. R. Ranganathana, ki s svojim življenjem in delom predstavlja vzor za bibliotekarje sedanjosti in prihodnosti, še zlasti v odnosu do uporabnikov, in ki je z zakoni bibliotekarstva postavil temelje za odnose m ed uporabniki in knjižnicami ter za trajno povezavo m ed bralcem in knjigo. UDC 024+025.5/.6(497.4) S u m m a r y In the present article, the author com pares the com m unication betw een libraries and users from tw o points of view: library as the subject and users as the object, and library as the object and users as the subject and presum es the changes that will occur if the flow of the relations w ould be more often directed from the users tow ards the libraries. The author reminisces about the figure of S. R. Ranganathan, the w ork and life of w hom represents an ideal for the librarians now and in the future, especially as their attitude tow ards the users is concerned, and w ho w ith his laws of librarianship set the foundations for the relationship betw een the users and libraries and for the perm anent ties betw een the reader and the book.
