Č l a n k i PROFIL IN LIK KNJIŽNIČNEGA DELAVCA Ignac Kam enik profesor, ravnatelj Mariborske knjižnice UDK 023.5(497.12) KAMENIK Ignac: Profil in lik knjižničnega delavca, Knjižnica, Ljubljana 1972, let. UDC 023.5(497.12) KAMENIK Ignac, Intellectual and Emotional Qualities in the Personality of the Librarian, Knjižnica, Ljubljana 1972, vol. 16, No 1/4 The study proceeds from the position of the library in the social life of a given environment, confronting in this context various views about the function of the library in today’s world. Next, on the basis of our decision on what should the librarianship in Slovenia be like in the future, the study defines the professional training and the personality of people working in public libraries from several aspects: from the point of view of the profession, from the point of view of the current state of affairs in this field in our country, and from the point of view of the realistically conceived ideas for future develop ment. With regard to the intellectual-rational components of the men tal physiognomy of people working in the library, three kinds of workers have been proposed: the library assistant or technician, the assistant librarian, and the librarian. With regard to the other per sonality traits, emphasis has been laid on emotional, ethical and social qualities. The study wishes to encourage an actional type of library and in this context envisages the necessary intellectual and emotional qualities in the personality of the people working in it.
