Cleveland, O.—V nedeljo, dne 11. nov. Govornika bosta M. Petro-vlch in O. Tekuutz. Naatopl Ju-d rano v ženski kvartet (Ann Vod-nal, Ann Revere, Josephine I)e-beljak, Ann Medic) in moški oktet. Dorothy Ferra igra na hur-moniko s spremljanjem na banjo. Socialistična Zarja pošlje tri mlade: Viklta Poljšaka in Jossie Torkovo (duet) ter Podobnika (solo). Josephine K<>d¡en in Matilda Orne (sestri) zapojeta v duet u "Tam za goro". .Samostojna Zarja pošlje dve znani solistki: Antonette Simčič in Mary Ivanush (solo in duet). Matija (tatanek, predsednik nadzornega odbora Lorain Slov. Club Co. O vprašanju Prosvete Sharon, Pa. On piše: "Glavni in najboljši vir dohodkov za vsak tisk brez izjeme so naročniki. Ce ni naročnikov, tedaj nI vredno izdajati lista. I. 5. Priznanje pritožbenega odbora "pred vsem relifnih in javnih del avtoritet." Izvajala jo bosta delavska pevska zbora Vojan in Zarja, ki skupno štejeta do sto trideset pevcev in pevk. Na 29. julija sta jo baš ta zbora uprizorila na farmi DTJ, Auburn. O., pred številno avdijenco tri tisoč oseb. During the first seven months of the national campaign the Society admitted 1324 new adult and 1060 new juvenile members, or a total number of 2384 new members into both departments. The total number of newly-acquired members in eight months: 1519 adults and 1169 juveniles, or a total number of 2688 new member« in both departments. It was again Lodge 699, the Reveliers of Ambridge, Pa., now the third and consecutive time, that captured first place honors in October by securing the greatest number of adult members, while Ix>dge 107 of St. Louis, Mo., succeeded in winning the second place On the campaign list. In the same period, I/xige 629 of East Pittsburgh, Pa., acquired the greatest number of juveniles, while I/>dge 14 of Waukegan, 111., secured the next greatest number of juvenile members. From the above list it is evident that new members are being secured at about equal rate into l>oth departments of the Society, and that the most active lodges and members are divided between East and Midwest. The fact that Pennsylvania—the backbone of the SNPJ —still retains its first place position on the campaign list is not unusuul; it rather would be unusual if it were not the most active. Brothers and Sisters! The jubilee campaign is drawing to a close. There remain but five more weeks which, however, afford sufficient time in which you can amend the neglected opportunity and reach the set goal. No one active in this campaign should delay any longer, but must see all the prospective members at once. Everyone active in the drive should do everything he or she can, and the success of the campaign will be assured. Bring into the SN!\J the greatest number of young men and young women! Therein lies the future of the SNPJ! Acquaint all prospective members of the fact that the SNPJ Is the GREATEST, SOUNDEST, SAFEST and to the progressive workers most sympathetic Slovene fraternal organization in America! ACTIVE MEMBERS OF THE SNPJ SHOULD MAKE THEIK FINAL EFFORT TO BRING THE JUBILEE CAM-I'AKiN TO A GRATIFYING CONCLUSION. NOW IS THE TIME FOR EVERY MEMBER OF THE SNIM TO COME TO THE All) OF HIS ORGANIZATION. And we're telling you, everybody should have had enough for there was plenty for all and then "some. It did our hearts good to see ao many of our old friends at the tables consuming all these good things. Our pretty waitresses were kept busy for hours, always responding jovially to the numerous requests for this and that. • * * And then the fun began. Before we outline the program, we must tell you that Mary Jugg was back of it all, even if she wasn't in it, this time. Her committee selected Bonnie Spacer to preside and what a maatertoaat he was, so natural, not a bit nervous or excited and such rare entertaining qualities. He was great Benny called on Don L^trieh first, to give a brief outline of Pioneer history, and after a song by a sweet lady with a fine delicate voiee hopped on Prof. Maynard C. Krueger, who received a hearty response. Frank We. gel obliged us with a sons and the saw act, Ernestine ,Jwgg gave a fine account.of herself in a dandy reading and the prise act qf, the evening was put on by Dorothy Plahutnik and Catherine Livingeton. How Dorothy did chew that £um and crack the wise ones. This act was coached by Helen Brownell. Frances Omerza aooom-panied the singers and Doctor J. F. Nachtman accompanied the community songs. We all drank a toast of health and danced later until 1:00 a. m. to that virtuous "trio-duet" Mutt Sotoaek and John Schweiger. • •■».,■ .v« Oh yes, we mustn't forget to tell you that the gang, inspired by Frank Zavertnik and the remarkable oratory of Oacar Godina, presented Don with a souvenir cup, for his active participation in the Pioneer Lodge work. Dr. Zavertnik managed to stop around as did John Setecka and Dr. Nachtman. It was a great night with a hapgy and contented family. ♦ • • On Monday, Nov. 26, the Pioneer Dance Committee will meet at the offices of Proletarec. Time, 9:00 p. m. The Rising Tide ifci A wave, somewhat bolder than the re creeps up the sandy shore, then discourse falls back. But another and another folio until by infinitesimal gains, the vast ai mighty ocean moves. The tide is rising. Thus, painfully, uncertainly, the slow-mo ing mass of humanity struggles upward, it seeking to fulfill its destiny, to live and i produce, in peace and happiness. ALL AMERICANS not been specified—but It is expected that should they reach the stage where they feel that they have done their share and stop—we have this much to say:—They must do more than their share. The officers do theirs and more besides—why shoold anyone be exempt? So pull up your sleeves and—can't you guess what your duty is? Sayt Is this a surprise! Perhap« the writer can arrange to have our— Nopel I guess it will hold until the next meeting. Am I laughing—ask me. Will you be surprised—a«k yourself! If you do not believe me—come to the next monthly meeting, Tuesday evening, December 11. Every number turn out. Oh! Oh! Another reason why this meeting will be of double importance. Election of the officers for the New Year 1 SBC. Do not stay away because you are afraid you will be elected for any position. Come just to top the year off right, if for no other reason. Incidentally, you will or may witness the initiation of four brand new members. Sister Schneider, our ex-secretary, proposed her brother, besides making known that her daughter is of the age and ready to graduate from the Juvenile department to the Adult. Our present Secretary believes that she has finally convinced three eligible candidates that there is nothing better than being a member of SNPJ. Now one more question before we close—Who in "under the moon" is Sweetie Pie—Baby Face and Sweet. I heard these—and naturally would like to get dn on the "know." Do not ask who «aid this—but who, or what, is or are Sweetie Pie—Baby Face—Sweet and another one—"Radical"? "Do tea man brief shriben guest turn pochakin nix per shoe." Adios! Will we get there this year? Let's try hard, Brothers and Sisters, and get some new members for next meeting. That is the only way we can build up our lodge to what it should be. Cooperate with each and every member in every way; get the lead out of you^ feet and come to next meeting. Election of officers is to take place at this meeting, December 11, and other business of vital importance is to be transacted. If you are interested in the we!faj*e of this organization, it ie your duty to be present at this meeting. ' kitxv our meeting we will all enjoy sandwiches and drinks and a few hours of real fun, and we want everyone of our javeailea to be preeert alao. Why? The big reason for that is Santa Claus. He will give all Boosters presents after the meeting. Congratulations are in order for Mr. and Mrs. Joe Welgus upon the birth of a little daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Victor upon a little daugh-ter, and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gendone upon a little boy. Again we see Reveliers marching in front for the month of Oct. hi the SNPJ campaign. What about the rest of the E. S. lodges? We shall not allow Pa. to hold her fingers in the pit continually. I just saw Lindy's article in which he wrote that we shall not end this campaign this year, but extend it for at least a six month period. Fine idea, Lindy. Some day Reveliers will just have to take it on their chin. To those members that are suspended quite often, I would suggest that they see article 27 of our bylaws, which reads as follows: "Suspension shall be first automatic for any member failing to pay hia dues by the 26th day of the month before 8 o'clock p. m. In such ease the member shall be suspended for five days after the date he paid assessment for the month. Member suspended for non-payment of assessment shall forfeit all sick benefits, the right of vote and the privilege of candidacy for member of any committee for the time of suspension." iPlease pay your dues on time. If It would not have been for a group of hard working, active members, they would not be classed as one of the big eight. What lodge will be next? Last week the Prosveta again published a long list of E. S. Lodges with fifty members or more. From the tabulation printed, it was noticed that the Comets ranked fourth in time. The only Penna and third in the W. P. K. S. can have a good Federation. Does this mean that we are thru—or is 4t possible to secure more new members? Of course, there i* still a swell chance to increase our membership. There are yet quite a few whom we can add to our fold. When in good health we often fail to appreciate its benefit, but when Hickness and death enter our homes, the SNPJ proves to be a friend indeed.
