Its purpose is to examine the thesis that the two religions advanced and improved the status of women as compared to pre-Christian and pre-Islamic times and practices. The conclusion is that the thesis, although partly justified, needs to be approached with caution, since an egalitarian basis did not deter either religion from imposing misogynist interpretations on the sacred texts"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V članku so predstavljeni nekateri svetopisemski in koranski odlomki, ki so vplivali na položaj žensk v krščanstvu in islamu. Namen te predstavitve je preveriti tezo, ki pravi, da sta omenjeni verstvi pomenili napredek in izboljšanje v primerjavi s predkrščanskimi in predislamskimi časi.
