The purpose of the research was the presentation of patients that were treated by methadone in the center at the end of 10-year anniversary. The aim of this presentation is to broaden the professional knowledge about the use of methadone and comprehension and acceptance of the patients treated this way. Methods The research included all78 patients treated with methadone. Questionnaires, qualitative approaches and medical evidences were used. Results Before starting methadone treatment the detoxification without medical help was accomplished by 37% of them, 15% were hospitalised in psychiatric clinics for the purpose of detoxification, 6%were treated in the therapeutic communities, 3.9% in the Project Človek . 11% of the patients spent a part of their youth in the schools of correction. 13% were connected with inprisonment. 79% were working or/and schooling. They had children in 30.8 % and they had a partner in the treatment with methadone in 23%.
