Statistics is an important tool in the hands of library management for strategic planning, decision making and in requests for funding. Quantitative data are not sufficient for evaluation of libraries, qualitative indicators should be included and relations between the two should be calculated to be able to measure the attaining of the goals of the library within a fixed period. The author lists some library performance indicators adequate to be used in schoollibraries (from standard ISO 11620 and IFLA guidelines) and indicators with information literacy standards (from publication Information Power: Building Partnership for Learning). The second part involves empyrical investigation. A questionnaire that was sent by mail or e-mail in March 2002 to 120 Slovenian elementary and secondary school libraries is presented. It included 27 questions of mainly closed and some open type. The results of the survey that had 50 respondents indicate unsatisfying use of library performance measurement methods and technics and indicators in school libraries and their ignorance of the librarians although they were fairly inclined to library evaluation</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">V prvem delu avtorica opredeli in podrobneje predstavi šolske knjižnice, knjižnično statistiko in evalvacijo ter ugotavljanje uspešnosti delovanja knjižnic. Statistika je pomembno orodje v rokah knjižničnega menedžmenta za strateško načrtovanje, sprejemanje odločitev in v zahtevkih za financiranje. Kvantitativni podatki za evalvacijo knjižnic ne zadoščajo, vključiti je potrebno tudi kvalitativne kazalce in kazalnike ter računati razmerja med obojimi, da bi lahko ugotavljali doseganje zastavljenih ciljev knjižnice v določenem časovnem obdobju. Avtorica navaja nekatere kazalce uspešnosti delovanja knjižnic, primerne za uporabo v šolskih knjižnicah (iz standarda ISO 11620:1998 in IFLA smernic) ter kazalce k standardom informacijske pismenosti (iz publikacije Information Power: Building Partnership for Learning). Drugi del vsebuje empirično raziskavo. Predstavljen je anketni vprašalnik, ki je bil v marcu 2002 poslan po pošti ali elektronski pošti na 120 slovenskih osnovnošolskih in srednješolskih knjižnic. Vseboval je 27 vprašanj pretežno zaprtega in nekaj odprtega tipa.
