The hydrofobic (water repellent) protective coating prevents the penetration of water into the material while allowing the penetration of vapour. Two standard methods are employed for determining the hydrofobic efficiency of various silane agents: measurement of capillary water adsorption in impregnated concrete samples and the OSMO test (measurement of frost resistance of impregnated concrete samples). Penetration of water into the hydrofobic impregnated area of porous building material was studied by neutron radiography. Neutron radiography is a non-destructive method for quantitative measurement of hydrogene concentration and enables monitoring of water transport in porous building materials. By a combination of standard gravimetric method and a non-destructive method we evaluated the efficiency of the hydrofobic treatment of two silane agent</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Za površinsko zaščito betona pri gradnji cest se uporablja hidrofobna zaščita s sredstvi na osnovi sislanov. Hidrofobni (vodnoodbojni) zaščitni premaz zavira vstopanje vode v notranjost materiala, ob tem pa prepušča prehajanje vodne pare skozi impregnacijo. Za določitev vodoodbojne učinkovitosti različnih silanskih zaščitnih se uporabljata standardni metodi: meritev vodne vpojnosti impregniranih betonskih vzorcev in preskus OSMO (meritev zmrzlinske odpornosti impregniranih betonskih vzorcev). Vstopanje vode v hidrofobno zaščiteno plast poroznega gradbenega materiala smo preučevali z nevtronsko radiografijo. To je neporušna metoda za kvantitativno določanje koncentracije vodika in omogoča spremljanje prehajanja vode v poroznih gradbenih materialih.
