Pisana vrata so se imenovala, ker so bila lepo poslikana. Imenovali pa so jih še Karlovška, Vzhodna ali Bihaška vrata. Vrata so imela obliko dvonadstropnega štirioglatega stolpa s polkrožnim portalom. V stolpu je imel vratar stanovanje. Nad stanovanjem so bile ječe za meščane z manjšimi kaznimi. Pod stanovanjem pa so bile ječe za hujše kriminalce. Vrata so se nahajala pri današnjem Predoru pod Gradom, Karlovško cesto in Zvonarsko ulico.
