The COST Domain Transport and Urban Development aims at fostering international research networking activities of scientist and experts dealing with transport systems and infrastructures, spatial planning, urban land use and development, urban design, architecture and design and civil engineering issues. The focus is on multi and interdisciplinary approaches and the aim is to cover both basic and applied research activities and their changeovers that are relevant to policy and decision making processes. Usklajujeta ga COST Office in Evropska znanstvena fundacija (ESF). Poglavitni cilj tega projekta, imenovanega Urban Knowledge Arena (Arena urbanističnega znanja), je raziskati in razviti evropsko prizorišče za mednarodno združitev znanja in izkušenj o zapletenih urbanističnih vprašanjih. S projektom COST Domain Transport and Urban Development (Področje prevoza in urbanega razvoja COST) želijo sodelujoči razvijati dejavnosti znanstvenikov in strokovnjakov, ki se v mednarodni raziskovalni mreži ukvarjajo s prevoznimi sistemi in prevozno infrastrukturo, s prostorskim načrtovanjem, rabo in razvojem urbanih zemljišč,urbanističnim oblikovanjem, arhitekturo, oblikovanjem in z vprašanji gradbeništva. Projekt se posveča multi- in interdisciplinarnim pristopom, s katerimi bi rad zajel osnovne in aplikativne raziskovalne dejavnosti in njihove spremembe, ki so pomembne za oblikovanje politike in procesov odločanja.
