Patients and methods:12 patients (2 male, 10 female) were operated for Duanećs retraction syndrome in the last 10 years at our clinic. All the patients had Duanećs Type1 (in 9 patients left eye was affected, in 2 right eye was affected, one had billateral Duanećs syndrome). The visual acuity was normal in 7 of them. 5of the patients had ambliopia, mostly because of anisometropia, 7 of the patiens were wearing hypermetropic correction, 2 had myopic correction, otherswere without glasses. The average angle before operation was + 15.8 10.1 °. Results: The retroposition of internal rectus of the affected eye was done in all except one patient, 2 operations were needed in one patient. The average angle one year after operation was + 9.7 7.3°, the angle at the lastvisit at our department was + 10.4 7.5°. The head posture was much better after the operation in most of them. Normal binocular functions (normalfusion or normal stereovision) was achieved in 8 out of 12 patients. Conclusions: In patients with Duanećs retraction syndrome abnormal head posture is indication for surgery. After surgery there was smaller and stable angle of deviation in all our patients, they all had less problems with abnormal head posture</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-5BBJNUP1"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-5BBJNUP1" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-5BBJNUP1/2c144ffb-2e1a-4664-96ca-c83232e0f4d3/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Slovensko zdravniško društvo</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-5BBJNUP1/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-5BBJNUP1" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
