Geometrically designed towns, which are laid out along rectangular axes, are of higher quality. The article presents three levels of this design. The first is to be found in the settlements where the town walls are adapted to the configuration of the ground, while the street cross at right angles. The second level is best represented by the so-called urbs quadrata, the Roman type of town, where the rectangular streets with their blocks of buildings (insulae) are enclosed within rectangularly designed town walls. The third level can be observed in individual town quarters, normally the agora or forum, which display an orthogonal or circular design with an emphasis on the axes. A short chronological survey shows that the ancient Greek and Roman town plans, and occasionally even those in the Near East, have served as models for the designers of many towns or their quarters throughout history to the present times</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">V antiki sta se izoblikovala dva osnovna modela mestne zasnove: "raščeni" in "načrtovani". V kratkem časovnem pregledu do danes vidimo, da so izhodišča mnogim prostorskim zasnovam mest ali njihovih delov skozi zgodovino do danes v grški in rimski antiki, včasih celo v deželah Bližnjega vzhoda</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-6ZIMXOCJ"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-6ZIMXOCJ" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-6ZIMXOCJ/f83660fd-aa1d-46e2-9f2c-1f2f9ec7e2df/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Ljubljani, Filozofska fakulteta, Znanstvena založba</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-6ZIMXOCJ/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-6ZIMXOCJ" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
