The empirical research was conducted on 116 medium-sized or large Slovenian companies within manufacturing industry and with at least 50 employees. The foundings were that there is no statistically significant correlation between the level of automation of production processes and the amount of hours of production workers carried out in the night shift. Another finding was also that the decrease in the amount of night work among the companies surveyed does not appear to be a key motive for implementing automation in production processes. Recommendations were made for practice on the topic of automation and the proportion of hours of night work will have theoretical and practical implications in medium-sized or large Slovenian manufacturing companies</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Namen raziskave je bil ugotoviti, ali stopnja avtomatizacije procesov proizvajanja vpliva na delež ur nočnega dela proizvodnih delavcev, in na podlagi spoznanj podati predloge za izboljšanje.
