The comparison shows a number of similarities: both attribute a totalitarian character to the mechanism of the consumer society, both believe such a society has a negative effect on man, and both find a solution in artistic experience. The presented analysis remains significant because it touches on contemporary ecological dilemmasČlanek analizira ontološke temelje potrošniške družbe v Heideggrovem mišljenju razpoložljivosti (Ge-stell), ki ga primerja z Marcusejevo obravnavo pojava poznokapitalistične družbe. Primerjava pokaže več podobnosti: oba mehanizmu potrošniške družbe pripišeta totalitarni značaj, prepričana sta, da ima takšna družba slab vpliv na človeka, in poiščeta rešitev v umetniškem izkustvu.
