According to its content, the temple had key significance in Greek cities, thus it directly affected all other types of public buildings. The Romans used the temple's layout in its original form or merged it with Etruscan arcades into a new image, which marked all 1ater classical architecture. With orders, which were codified by Renaissance theoreticians and used by Renaissance architects, the theme of Greek temples became the starting point for all architectural enterprises in various style periods, all the way to modernism. Even contemporary architecture has accepted many composition principles, which were most clearly established on the Greek temple. The article wishes to rekindle our consciousness about architectural qualities of the Greek temple and point out its guiding role in later architectural periods. It simultaneously proves the statement that the original theme (the temple) can be originally interpreted (redesigned) according to architectural orientations of a certain time. Thus it indirectly responds to one of the key issues in contemporary art and also architecture, namely, the decisive criteria, when evaluating the quality of a creation, cannot be its disengagement from the original. A creative person when working always looks to a reference, whatever its name: ideal, motif or startingpoint</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Grški tempelj je arhitekturna stvaritev, ki ima od časa svojega nastanka pa do danes nepogrešljiv vpliv v zahodni arhitekturi. Človek se pri svojem delu vedno nekje zgleduje, pa naj to imenuje vzor, motiv ali izhodišče</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-99Y1QRJB"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-99Y1QRJB" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-99Y1QRJB/494f5c45-cf62-4ad1-9bf2-ede1a0bd6a32/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za arhitekturo</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-99Y1QRJB/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-99Y1QRJB" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
