This is also reflected in the approximate division of the artist's two main areas of influence that represented his starting points, which is evident in the stylistic features of his painting, as well as his life%s path and his notes, in which he defined his influences and models. During his early work, the opposition between the mostly picturesque and expressive North, and the emphatically plastic and meditative Mediterranean was the subject of many conceptualisations and considerations, such as by Heinrich Wölfflin, the reverberation of which can also be found in Pilon's paintings and notes. Hence, Pilon is strongly inclined to paint with emphases on plastic, tectonic and meditative forms, which comes as a result of his knowledge and integration of the principles of concurrent and early Renaissance Italian art, while expressive-pictorial components, mediated by German expressionist art, prevail in his printmaking. In the portraits and landscapes produced during the 1920s, this perceptive observer and interpreter created a remarkable memorial to the people and places that were of special importance to him. Following the veristic principle of the New Objectivity and the stylism of concurrent Italian art, Pilon recorded both the specific features of the landscape and the people that were close to him in his paintings, thus creating an unrepeatable, harrowing sequence of artworks that visualise both his sensibility and the specificity of places and people</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Veno Pilon je bil izjemen slikar, ki je svojo izrazno moč v precejšnji meri črpal iz dveh stilno in kulturnozgodovinsko ločenih umetnostnih entitet. V času njegovega zgodnjega delovanja je bila opozicija med predvsem slikovitim in ekspresivnim Severom ter poudarjeno plastičnim in meditativnim Sredozemljem predmet številnih konceptualizacij in obravnav, kar je našlo svoj odmev tudi v Pilonovem slikarstvu in zapisih</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-AUHBGGP5"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-AUHBGGP5" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-AUHBGGP5/5370cac3-0715-4bec-8c7b-d0dce4a7c2f7/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Slovensko umetnostnozgodovinsko društvo</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-AUHBGGP5/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-AUHBGGP5" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
