A separate study of textual and interpersonal metadiscourse elements employing different methodological approaches was made, since their textual functions differ. The aim of the study was to establish whether, and to what extent, textual and interpersonal metadiscourse elements in the case of experienced readers influence the mental representation of the content on the basis of the read text. The study shows that textual metadiscourse elements generally do not have an influence on experienced readers and their understanding of a selected authentic text. The study of interpersonal metadiscourse elements indicates that their influence on understanding depends on their function and the content of the text in which they appear: they can either influence the mental representation created after reading a text, they can remain part of the content in modified form, or they have no influence on understanding the chosen authentic texts. _______________________________"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Članek predstavlja rezultate pilotne raziskave vpliva metadiskurznih elementovna razumevanje izbranih avtentičnih besedil dveh blogov oz. spletnih dnevnikov. Besedilni in medosebni metadiskurzni elementi so bili preučevani ločeno in z različnimi metodološkimi pristopi, ker se razlikujejo po svojih besedilnih funkcijah. Namen raziskave je bil ugotoviti, če in v kakšni meri besedilni in medosebni metadiskurzni elementi pri izkušenih bralcih vplivajo na ustvarjanje vsebinske predstave na podlagi prebranega besedila.
