Karlin has attracted considerable attention over the last two decades. Researchers praise the anti-parochialism and determination that she exercised in pursuit of her goals, qualities that few of us possess today, despite all our technical aids. Often emphasized is her fascination with Japan, which to her indeed represented her locus amoenus. The article tries to put into contest her travel diaries about this country, which in her time still qualified as an empire. Since Karlin is sometimes, though not frequently, reproached with anegative attitude towards the indigenous people "living beyond the Seven Seas", the main aim will be to find out where and how her image of the colonized Other in the Great Japanese Empire originated</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Literarna in druge zapuščine celjske intelektualke in popotnice Alme M. Karlin je v zadnjih dveh desetletjih pritegnila zanimanje mnogih. Ker se Karlinovi poredko, a vendarle pripisuje negativen odnos do staroselcev "oddaljenih morij", nas bo hkrati zanimalo, kje in kako si je ustvarila podobo o koloniziranih drugih v Velikem japonskem imperiju</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-EF1PBJ9L"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-EF1PBJ9L" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-EF1PBJ9L/1f9af754-d611-41ca-94cd-e940e4fdb32e/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Zgodovinsko društvo Celje</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-EF1PBJ9L/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-EF1PBJ9L" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
