The first part presents the definition of syntactic mistakes according to the normative grammar. Syntactic structures that are not normatively incorrect but only (potentially) less appropriate are not defined as mistakes. The analysis of assessment shows that the distinction between actual mistakes and less appropriate forms is unclear, and that examiners' decisions on problematic syntactic forms are not unanimous. The last part of the paper presents a proposal for syntax assessment in the school essay"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Namen prispevka je predstaviti ocenjevanje skladnje v šolskem eseju na maturi in opozoriti na nekatere težave, ki se pojavljajo pri ocenjevanju te jezikovne ravnine. Skladenjska struktura povedi namreč po eni strani odraža jezikovno (slovnično) znanje pisca, po drugi strani pa je tudi odraz njegovega sloga pisanja, ki je lahko bolj ali manj razvit. Na začetku opredelim skladenjske napake na podlagi Toporišičeve slovnice. Pri tem izhajam iz stališča, da to, kaj je napaka, opredeljuje norma (slovnica). Strukture, ki so slovnično sicer pravilne, vendar glede na jezikovni čut (morda) slabe, imenujem skladenjske neustreznosti. Iz analiz ocenjevanja je razvidno, da skladenjske napake in neustreznosti niso enoumne in da med ocenjevalci prihaja do različnih interpretacij, kako te napake evidentirati (pri jezikovni pravilnosti, slogu ali zgradbi).
