Further, deterioration processes themselves are also characterized by change of porosity. Different direct and indirect techniques can be used for porositydetermination. In the following paper overview of these methods, as well as their advantages and disadvantages, is given. Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) is indirect (microscopic) technique. Despite its numerous advantages, among which 3D visualization of pore structure is of major importance, this technique is less known in the area of building materials. Anexample how CLSM can be applied for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of porosity of calcitic polygonal granoblastic marble is given in this paper. Studied marble has been, despite of its poor durability, often used as building material, especially in the case of claddings. It is shown that thermal hydric factors of deterioration can influenceporositysignificantly,especiallyformationofintergranularcracks.Thiskin dofdeteriorationcanbesuccessfully evaluated with use of CLSM method, if samples are suitable prepared and if suitable image analysis tools are developed"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Poroznost je ena izmed glavnih značilnosti naravnega kamna, ki vpliva na njegovo trajnost in funkcionalnost, ko se ta uporablja kot gradbeni material. Poleg tega so tudi sami mehanizmi propadanja že vgrajenega kamna povezani s spremembo poroznosti. Za določanje poroznosti naravnega kamna se uporabljajo različne posredne in neposredne tehnike. V članku je podan pregled, prednosti in pomanjkljivosti različnih metod. Laserska konfokalna mikroskopija ali krajše CLSM (confocal laser scanning microscopy) sodi med neposredne (mikroskopske) tehnike. Njena uporaba je na področju študija gradbenih materialov kljub številnim prednostim, med katerimi je ena najpomembnejših vizualizacija 3D prostora, manj poznana. Podan je primer uporabe konfokalne mikroskopije za kvalitativno ter kvantitativno vrednotenje poroznosti v kalcitnem poligonalnem granoblastičnem marmorju, ki se kljub svojim slabim trajnostnim lastnostim, pogosto uporablja kot gradbeni proizvod, zlasti v primeru fasadnih plošč. Ugotovljeno je bilo, da izpostavitev preiskovanega kalcitnega marmorja toplotno - hidričnim dejavnikom propadanja, znatno vpliva na spremembo poroznosti, zlasti na nastanek razpok med zrni.
