Based on a doctoral thesis, empirical results regarding the relevance of green spaces and strategies in the process of urban restructuring will be discussed. Concerned cities develop specific framework concepts to face spatial transformation. It is assumed that in shrinking cities the influence of green spaces and as well as their significance for urban form will change. Results of case studies in shrinking cities of Eastern Germany will be discussed with regard to their strategies and the instruments facing the challenges of green space development. The presented findings might be also relevant for urban development in (partially) growing cities, enhancing green space development as a part of sustainable cities</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Razvoj zelenih površin je hkrati strategija in potreba, ki izvira iz prostorske preobrazbe mest zaradi socialnih in demografskih sprememb. Ugotovitve bodo morda ustrezne tudi za razvoj mest, ki (deloma) rastejo, in za spodbujanje razvoja zelenih površinv sonaravnih mestih</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-GCK98CHF"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-GCK98CHF" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-GCK98CHF/cc5bb39e-4d00-4c49-981a-31414a989936/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Urbanistični inštitut Republike Slovenije</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-GCK98CHF/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-GCK98CHF" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
