Therefore, among the most important goals of first language teaching are to enable students to achieve confident and fluent use of the standard/literary language, as well as to develop their discursive flexibility. These goals can only be achieved if we proceed from the role of the standard language in the individual's live. In the article, we therefore first review deviations from the traditional theory of language stratification noted in Slovenian linguistics, as well as new models that have been proposed. The curriculum for teaching Slovenian as a first language in high school is then analysed in terms of its principled attitude towards linguistic diversity and the operationalisation of this relationship through precisely defined objectives and content. In conclusion, certain starting points for teaching practice and further research are suggested</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Razmerja med jezikovnimi zvrstmi so se v t. i. postmoderni družbi spremenila, zato sta pomembni nalogi pouka prvega jezika, da učenca usposobi za samozavestno in tekoče izražanje v knjižnem jeziku, a hkrati razvija njegovo kritično diskurzivno prožnost. Ker je to mogoče doseči le, če upoštevamo vloge, ki jih ima knjižni jezik v življenju posameznika, smo v prispevku najprej pregledali, na katera odstopanja od tradicionalne teorije zvrstnosti se opozarja v slovenskem jezikoslovju ter kateri modeli zvrstnosti se predlagajo. Na podlagi teh ugotovitev je bil analiziran učni načrt za gimnazije (2011), njegov načelni odnos do jezikovne raznolikosti ter operacionalizacija tega odnosa skozi natančneje določene cilje in vsebine.
