In the opposite case, urban development in Slovenia will still be evaluated from a defensive position and remain subordinate. It would be beneficial to research, how and to what extentcan sectorian and disconnected dealings with space affect the concept ofcompact city and the possibility for protecting natural and cultural landscapes. Urbanists should focus on two aspects: how to act if the interdisciplinary sustainable model will not be developed, or not at all, and to what extent to improve efficiency? The solution probably lies in the answer, why don't urban planners have the right to manage complex built-up space. Probably because their operative tools are almost completely useless inthe new social condition"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Stroke prostorskega planiranja morajo vzpostaviti in izoblikovati interdisciplinarno uravnotežene modele vrednotenja in načrtovanja prostorskegarazvoja s skupnimi usmeritvami in cilji. V nasprotnem primeru se bo urbani razvoj v Sloveniji še kar naprej in tudi vse bolj vrednotil z defenzivnega in podrejenega stališča. Dobro bi bilo čimprej raziskati, koliko in kako vplivajo sektorsko nepovezane obravnave prostora na koncept strnjenegarazvoja naselij in na sposobnost varovanja naravne in kulturne krajine. Urbanisti bi morali razmišljati v dveh smereh: kaj storiti, če interdisciplinarno uravnoteženega modela dlje ali pa sploh ne bo oziroma kako in v kakšnem merilu čim bolj učinkovito delovati? Rešitev se najbrž skriva v odgovoru, zakaj urbanistu ne pripada več pravica do kompleksnega urejanja grajenega prostora.
