Although two symbols are used in the dictionary, only the lemmata or their senses marked with O (a complete absence of any equivalent) are discussed. An analysis of lemmata with zero equivalence shows that grammatical words are among the most problematic, as they function differently in different languages. The problem of zero equivalence is mainly solved by the inclusion of translated examples of use in English and by short descriptions of the function of the lemma or one of its senses. In this way, a more successful and thorough retrieval of information can be achieved with every look-up"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V članku obravnavamo ničto slovarsko ustreznost v angleško-slovenskem slovarju (ASS) s poudarjeno didaktično komponento. Čeprav so v slovarju različni primeri odsotnosti ustreznika označeni z dvema znakoma, obravnavamo samo iztočnice ali njihove pomene, označene z znakom O (popolna odsotnost ustreznika). Analiza iztočnic z ničtim ustreznikom kaže, da so slovnične besede in nekatere slovnične besedne vrste med najbolj problematičnimi, ker imajo v različnih jezikih različno funkcijo. V ASS se problem ničte ustreznosti rešuje večinoma z vključevanjem prevedenega ponazarjalnega gradiva in z uporabo kratkih opisov funkcije iztočnice.
