In the developed countries the processhas developed inmore advanced form with high and still rising percentage of the age group 65 and moreyears in the total population. This development is the main cause of the deep transformationsof the socioeconomic characteristics of the modern society. The most important are the challenges to public finances and intergenerational solidarity, especially those in thefields of public pensions, health care and long-term care.
