List je poročal o mednarodnem političnem dogajanju, vprašanjih Maribora in zaledja, predvsem pa o boju med liberalnim in katoliškim taborom ter pri tem ostro napadal klerikalizem, z obravnavanjem narodnostnih vprašanj pa je vplival na krepitev narodne zavesti v severovzhodni Sloveniji.
