With reference to three contemporary Slovene novels - The Republic of Morning Dew by Vladimir P. Štefanec, and She Who Was Brought by Fog and I Shall Separate Foam from the Waves by Feri Lainšček - the article presents struggles both within the individual and between the individual and the group in the context of the complexity of the concept of identity. In terms of the development of the personal/spiritual intelligence of literary characters, the dynamic structure of identity can be perceived as a lifelong process, characterised by crises, conflicts, active and passive periods, and processes of resistance to and acceptance of different social roles, moral principles or lifestyles"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Književnost se je že od nekdaj ukvarjala z vprašanjem identitete literarnega subjekta.
