This process is associated with increasingly frequent temperature extremes; as a consequence, heat stress in the summer months is becoming more pronounced, especially during periods of heat waves. The paper analyzes the trends of maximum tempera tures, the trends of hot days, and the trends in the number and duration of heat waves in Slovenia in the period 1961–2024. The paper also indicates possible scenarios of changes in maximum temperatures in Slovenia until the end of the 21st century if the current temperature trends were to continueEna najbolj vidnih posledic podnebnih sprememb je višanje temperatur zraka, kar se manifestira tudi v dvigovanju maksimalnih in minimalnih temperatur. S tem procesom so povezani vedno pogostejši temperaturni ekstremi; posledica tega so izrazitejše toplotne obremenitve v poletnih mesecih, zlasti v obdobjih vročinskih valov. V članku analiziramo trende maksimalnih temperatur, trende vročih dni in trende števila in trajanja vročinskih valov v Sloveniji v obdobju 1961–2024.
