For the oldest genres it will be possible to determine the beginning of occurence in reviews, their recognizability and persistence. Data on the genre system obtained from the Catalogue may be completemented with sources outside the temporal domain of the Catalogue; without this, the genre situation of the late 20th century would be lest out (some data can be obtained from literary-theoretical texts and the bibliographical system COBISS). These additional data cannot give a complete picture of the development of genre awarness, but they do help us to establish how the awarness about individual genres developed. Some terminological inconsistencies may be expected as well as vaguely defined genre concepts, manifested in the diversity and different degrees of adequacy of terms. A literature may be said to be developed when it has a reach system of genres and not only individual genres (e.g. only the peasant story ot he historical novel). A lack of genre names would imply poorly developed genre diversification or domination of some other classification mechanism in the literary system, viz. system in contradiction with genre poetics"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Namen raziskave je ugotoviti, katere žanrske oznake so najpogostejše v slovenski literarni kritiki, kateri žanri so popularni, kakšna je kontinuiteta posameznih žanrskih pojmov (kdaj so se pojavili), kakšno je količinsko razmerje omemb med žanri v slovenski publicistiki, kdaj so žanri doživeli razvoj, kako so kritiki sprejemali žanrskost, kateri žanri so povezani s prevedeno literaturo, kateri pa z domačo. Najstarejšim žanrom bo mogoče določiti začetek omenjanja, prepoznavnost in vztrajnost. Podatke o žanrskem sistemu, ki temeljijo na Katalogu, je mogoče dopolniti z viri, ki časovno presegajo Katalog, sicer bi izostala podoba žanrskega sistema v zadnjih desetletjih dvajsetega stoletja (nekaj podatko je mogoče dobiti iz literarnoteoretičnih razprav ter iz bibliografskega sistema Cobiss - Cobiss deloma dodaja oznake po l. 1987, za nazaj so vpisi podatkovno skromnejši in prinašajo v glavnem le podnaslove). Dopolnilni podatki ne morejo dati popolne slike razvoja žanrske zavesti, ampak je iz njih mogoče ugotoviti, kako se je razvijala zavest o posameznih žanrih. Pričakovati je mogoče terminološko nedorečenost in nedefiniranost žanrskih pojmov, kar se bo izkazalo v raznolikosti in pogosti (ne)ustreznosti poimenovanj. O razvitosti literature je mogoče govoriti, če obstaja bogat sistem žanrov, ne le posamezni žanri (npr. samo kmečka povest ali zgodovinski roman).
