In other words, the extent to which the infrastructure of the cultural process – translators, publishers, book distribution, festivals, readings, visits, advertising – af-firms the authentic, dignified and representative face of Slovenian literature, and the extent to which it is the result of chance and coercion. Is there a mechanism by which an author and his or her works can appear on the Bulgarian book market, or is it a spontaneous choice? What is the competence in the selection of Slovenian titles and who is the authorised body for such selection? Which reader does a book translated from Slovenian “target”? The reflections also raise the broader question of literary exchange strategies within the European UnionNamen prispevka je prikazati neenakomerno in nekoliko naključno plasiranje nekaterih sodobnih slo-venskih romanov v bolgarščini. Zanima nas, v kolikšni meri infrastruktura kulturnega procesa (preva-jalci, založbe, knjižna distribucija, festivali, branja, gostovanja, oglaševanje) odraža avtentično, dosto-janstveno in reprezentativno podobo slovenske literature, v kolikšni meri pa gre za rezultat naključja in manipulacije. Ali obstaja mehanizem za plasiranje del slovenskih avtorjev na bolgarskem knjižnem trgu ali pa gre za spontano izbiro? Kaj se upošteva pri izboru slovenskih naslovov in kdo jih izbira? Komu je knjiga, prevedena iz slovenščine, »namenjena«?
