The basic word order is the same in both languages; subject-verb-object (SVO). However, Slovene and Italian differ in one being an analytical and the other a synthetic language, and being Romance and Slavic, respectively. The word order in the language pair differs in the degree of freedom one has to form different sentence variations. I will try to verify the hypothesis that pragmatic and semantic factors have a greater impact on the Slovenian word order than the grammatical ones, while grammatical factors have more influence on the word order in Italian. The analysis examines the word order in sentences with three elements, S, V and O as well as the word order in sentences with two elements, i.e. S and V or O and V. The VS/SV or VO/OV patterns are, again, the result of an interplay between pragmatic and semantic factors</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">V prispevku skušamo osvetliti medsebojno delovanje dejavnikov, ki vplivajo na besedni red v slovenskem in italijanskem jeziku. Analiza zajema besedni red v stavkih, v katerih so prisotni vsi trije elementi, torej S, V in O, in skuša pojasniti variabilni besedni red, ko sta v stavku prisotna zgolj dva od elementov, torej S in V ali O in V. Vzroki za besedni red VS/SV ali OV/VO so rezultat prepleta zgoraj omenjenih dejavnikov</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-SPSFCOW3"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-SPSFCOW3" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-SPSFCOW3/06fe5d5d-f028-468e-b8cb-2a9a0116ad05/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Znanstvena založba Filozofske fakultete</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-SPSFCOW3/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-SPSFCOW3" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
