In this manner we can also extrapolate such views into the discourse of European union, since in 2008 the European year of intercultural dialogue was designed to help raise awareness of the population in the EU, especially young people, of the importance of engaging in cross-cultural dialogue in their daily lives. The article tries to follow the model of the intercultural sensitivity, developed by Milton J. Bennett, who sees it as a key to the intercultural communication,and associates it with the discussion on Turkey's entry into EU on Slovene television program, held by some prominent Slovene intellectuals during the Slovenian EU presidency in the first half of 2008. The conclusion is that in order to accept seriously the political (or educational) vision of intercultural dialogue, we have to agree on the question of cultural relativity of ethical principles. The best way to do this is by equating intercultural sensitivity with moral relativity</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Če antropologi in socialni psihologi prepoznavajo določena pravila ravnanja kot indic večje ali manjše interkulturne empatije, potem smo s tem dobili opis ravnanj, ki veljajo za bolj ali manj interkulturno dialoška in jih lahko "ekstrapoliramo" tudi na stališča akterjev, recimo v diskurzu Evropske unije, ki v letu 2008 časti leto medkulturnega dialoga z namenom, da poskuša prebivalce prepričati v njegov pomen v vsakdanjem življenju. Članek poskuša slediti modelu medkulturne občutljivosti, ki ga je razvil Milton J. Bennett, za katerega je ta ključni moment v medkulturni komunikaciji, ter ga povezati z razpravo o vstopu Turčije v Evropsko unijo, ki se je odvijala na slovenski televiziji med nekaterimi znanimi slovenskimi intelektualci v času predsedovanja Slovenije Evropski uniji. Sklep članka je, da moramo za resno politično (ali vzgojno) vizijo medkulturnega dialoga doseči strinjanje glede kulturne relativnosti etičnih načel.
