The origins of this research date back to the early 1950s, when the Department of Fuel and UF6was established. Early work included the development of electrolytic cells for the production of elemental fluorine and the synthesis of fluorine-containing compounds under challenging laboratory conditions. In the early 1960s, the group successfully synthesized XeF4 and XeF6, contributing to the emerging field of noble-gas chemistry. Subsequent research expanded to photochemical fluorination reactions and to the synthesis and characterization of numerous complex fluo-rides. The article highlights the scientific achievements of the group, the development of specialized experimental equip-ment, and the role of international collaboration in establishing the Jožef Stefan Institute as an internationally recognized center for fluorine chemistry"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Prispevek predstavlja osebni zgodovinski pregled pionirskega razvoja kemije fluora na Institutu »Jožef Stefan« v Ljubljani. Začetki teh raziskav segajo v zgodnja petdeseta leta prejšnjega stoletja, ko je bil ustanovljen Odsek za gorivo in UF6. Delo je sprva obsegalo razvoj elektroliznih celic za pridobivanje elementarnega fluora ter sintezo fluorovih spojin v zahtevnih laboratorijskih razmerah. V začetku šestdesetih let je skupina uspešno sintetizirala XeF4 in XeF6 ter s tem prispevala k nastajajočemu področju kemije žlahtnih plinov. Poznejše raziskave so se razširile na fotokemijske reakcije fluoriranja ter na sintezo in karakterizacijo številnih kompleksnih fluoridov.
