Selected language service providers offering a three-week practical experience to trainee translators also participated. In the first part of the article, the con-cepts of mentoring and evaluation are defined, followed by the results of evaluations and self-evaluations of various aspects of translation work placement, obtained from 122 final reports and post-placement questionnaires by trainee translators from the last accreditation period for the European Master’s in Translation, combined with the data from 2023/2024. The main aim was to explore the relationship and aid provided to trainee translators by other employees, while focusing in particular on mentoring, communication and feedback during translation work placement, as well as the time dedicated to and encouragement gi-ven to mentees. Additional information foregrounding various aspects of translation work placement was obtained from six interviews with selected translation service providers and trainee translators soliciting information on various translation activities during translation work placement, the use of translation technologies and generative artificial intelligence tools, mentor-mentee relationship and future employment prospects. The findings highlight the importance of close partnership between the academia and work placement providers offering employment to the graduates of the Department of Translation Studies, underlining that work placement can serve as a bridge between the academic and professional worlds. While translation work placement offers trainee translators work-related experience in disciplinary knowledge, it also presents an opportunity for the development of soft skills, nowadays often foregrounded as a key contributor to employability of future graduates"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V prispevku predstavljamo rezultate raziskav, osredotočenih na evalvacijo in samoevalvaci-jo praktičnega usposabljanja študentov Oddelka za prevajalstvo Univerze v Ljubljani, ki so opravljali prevajalsko prakso kot obvezni del študijskega procesa na magistrskem programu Prevajanje/Tolmačenje. V raziskavo so bili poleg praktikantov vključeni tudi predstavniki izbranih delovnih organizacij, ki študentom prevajalstva ponujajo tritedensko praktično uspo-sabljanje. V uvodnem delu je predstavljeno področje mentoriranja in evalvacije, nato sledijo rezultati evalvacije in samoevalvacije različnih vidikov praktičnega usposabljanja. Podatki so bili pridobljeni s pomočjo 122 končnih poročil in anketnih vprašalnikov praktikantov po zaključenem praktičnem usposabljanju v zadnjem akreditacijskem obdobju za članstvo Od-delka za prevajalstvo v Evropski mreži magistrskih programov iz prevajanja (angl. European Master's in Translation) v kombinaciji s podatki o praktičnem usposabljanju za študijsko leto 2023/2024. Raziskava se osredotoča na odnos in pomoč sodelavcev v delovni organizaciji ob sprejemu praktikanta, predvsem pa na različne vidike mentoriranja, od komunikacije in povratnih informacij, ki jih praktikanti prejmejo v času prevajalske prakse, do časa in spodbu-de, ki ju mentorji namenjajo praktikantom. Dodatne informacije o praktičnem usposabljanju smo pridobili s pomočjo šestih poglobljenih intervjujev s posameznimi predstavniki delovnih organizacij, ki zaposlujejo prevajalce in sodelujejo pri praktičnem usposabljanju, in prakti-kanti, ki so v teh delovnih organizacijah opravljali prevajalsko prakso. V intervjujih smo želeli dodatno osvetliti različne prevajalske aktivnosti, rabo najsodobnejših prevajalskih tehnologij in orodij umetne inteligence v času prevajalske prakse, mentorski odnos in kasnejše zaposli-tvene možnosti. Izsledki raziskave kažejo na nujnost nadaljevanja tesnega povezovanja med akademskimi inštitucijami in delovnimi organizacijami, ki ponujajo zaposlitev alumnom Od-delka za prevajalstvo, saj praktično usposabljanje pri potencialnih delodajalcih na področju je-zikovnih in prevajalskih storitev vzpostavlja most med izobraževalnim in poklicnim svetom.
