Pojavi se predvsem na soncu izpostavlljeni koži, običajno po 50. letu starosti. Raste lokalno invazivno in destruktivno, metastaze bazalioma pa so izjemna redkost. Glede na klinično sliko ločimo več oblik bazalno celičnega karcinoma.
