Political science, insofar as it is committed to the thought tradition established by Hobbes’ Leviethan and Machiavelli’s Ruler and acknowledged today as mainstream in political science, has a built-in conceptual blind spot as it focuses only on the ruler–political power relationship and cannot deal with the issue of the environment other than as a peripheral political problem. The author therefore defends the thesis that political science must be reconceptualised and the relationship between public power and material production must be brought to the fore if political science is to remain able to meet the demands of the historical moment and contribute to the thinking underlying the necessary transformation"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V članku avtor obravnava vdor okoljske tematike v javno in politično sfero in kako se z njo sooča državna oblast v liberalnodemokratskem sistemu; ta zaradi specifične konstrukcije, ki je ustavno zavarovana, ne sme in ne more neposredno intervenirati v materialno produkcijo, ki je sicer pripoznana kot glavni vir okoljskih poškodovanj. Politična znanost, kolikor je zavezana miselni tradiciji, ki se je vzpostavila s Hobbsovim Leviathanom in Machiavellijevim Vladarjem in jo danes pripoznamo kot mainstream v politični znanosti, ima zaradi fokusiranja samo na razmerje med vladarjem in politično oblastjo vgrajeno konceptualno slepo pego in se z vprašanjem okolja ne more spopasti drugače, kot da ga dojema le kot periferen politični problem.
