The raceway is hardened using heat treatment locally, considering the technological process of the bearing ring manufacture. In this way the ring surface has a microstructure providing a high static carrying capacity of the rolling contact, and in the same time retaining the global elasticity and good machining properties of the rotational connection material. The microstructure analysis and carrying capacity of the rolling contact have been carried out on hardened bearing rings made of carbon and chrome-molybdenum alloyed steel. The results of the material analysis and carrying capacity measurements confirm the suitability of the use of induction hardening for the raceway hardening, and also show the possible errors that can emerge in the process. Hardening cracks, upper bainite, supercooled austenite, and excessively thin hardened layer decrease the carrying capacity of the raceway. The final breakdown of the raceway shows as surface cracks, and deep impressions of the hardened layer in the softer base material"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Utrjevanje tečine kotalnega ležaja vrtljive zveze zvišuje odpornost tečine proti obrabi in vtiskovanju kotalnih elementov vanjo. Glede na tehnološki postopek izdelave ležajnih obročev tečino primerno utrdimo z lokalno toplotno obdelavo. S tem dosežemo po preseku ležajnega obroča takšno mikrostrukturo materiala, ki zagotavlja na površini tečine visoko statično nosilnost kotalnega stika, hkrati pa se ohrani globalna elastičnost in lastnost dobre mehanske obdelovalnosti materiala vrtljive zveze. Na zakaljenih ležajnih obročih iz ogljikovega in krom-molibdenovega legiranega jekla sta bili hkrati analizirana mikrostruktura in preverjena nosilnost kotalnega stika. Rezultati analize materialov in meritev nosilnosti potrjujejo smiselnost uporabe tehnologije indukcijskega kaljenja pri utrjevanju tečine, kot tudi opozarjajo na možne napake, ki pri tem nastanejo. Kalilne razpoke, zgornji bainit, podhlajeni avstenit in pretanka kaljena plast zmanjšujejo nosilnost tečine.
