School performance is strongly related to family income as well. Higher family income implies both, higher reading achievement and betterschool performance (measured via grades for Slovene Language and grades for general performance). However, there are exceptions to this rule: childrenwith good grades and low reading achievement are in one group and children with low grades and high reading achievement in the second one. In this paper the two groups are discussed. The analysis showed that the two groups have distinct characteristics regarding family income, parents' education, self-perception etc</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Bralni dosežek pri devet do desetletnih otrocih, kot smo ga izmerili pri Mednarodni raziskavi bralne pismenosti PIRLS 2001 je močno povezan z družinskim dohodkom. Enako velja za šolski uspeh. Višji ko je dohodek družine,boljši so tako bralni dosežek kot tudi splošni učni uspeh in ocena prislovenščini. V članku se ukvarjamo z dvema skupinama otrok, ki odstopajo odtega pravila: v eni skupini so otroci, ki imajo dober učni uspeh in slab bralni dosežek, v drugi pa otroci, ki imajo slab učni uspeh, a dober bralni dosežek.
