STROKOVNA USPOSOBLJENOST ZA KATALOGIZACIJO V COBISSU. Analiza p ro b le m a tik e in možni ukrepi za izboljšanje Zlata Dimeč, Narodna in univerzitetna knjižnica, Ljubljana UDK 023:377:025.3 Povzetek Izkušnje pri izobraževanju, preverjanju testnih zapisov in svetovanju knjižničarjem so bile vir za analizo strokovne usposobljenosti v slovenskem sistemu vzajemne katalogizacije (COBISS). Rezultati kažejo, da so težave pri vnosu v UN1M ARC format večinoma odraz neznanja katalogizacijo in neuporabe priročnikov in ne zapletenosti formata samega. Pomanjkljivo uvajanjeob nastopu dela in podcenjevanje katalogizacije vodita pri katalogizatorjih k opuščanju skrbi za kvaliteto zapisov. Usposabljanje aktivnih udeležencev COBISSa bi se torej moralo skoncentrirati na razumevanje osnov katalogizacije ob redni uporabi pravilnikov in priročnikov in na vcepljanje zavesti, da kooperativna obdelava zahteva visoko standardizacijo in opuščanje lokalne prakse. UDC 023:377:025.3 Summary Experiences in active training and education, checking test records, and advising librarians were the sources for analysis of cataloging proficiency in the Slovenian shared cataloging system COBISS. The results show that catalogers' problems with MARC tagging derive from poor knowledge of cataloging and non-usage of codes and manuals rather than from additional demands of a complicated struc­ ture which U N IM A R C certainly is. Together with the lack of systematic on-the-job training and a general lack of appreciation of cataloging skills, the concern for records quality is mostly left to catalogers' own initiatives. Their education and training should focus more on obtaining the basic expertise in cataloging with introducing the usage of manuals and documentation, and making them aware that cooperative cataloging demands following all the standards agreed and giving up the local practice.
