217 Slovenija / Slovenia Pochard Aythya ferina Sivka – leta 2017 zaradi nižje vodne gladine na zadrževalniku Medvedce (UTM WM53 SV Slovenija) ni gnezdila, je pa jesenska jata 602 osebkov največja doslej na tem območju In 2017, the water level at the Medvedce water reservoir was much lower than usual due to prolonged drought. During the summer, water levels rose due to a number of heavy storms but were still lower than the long-term average. Compared to the 2002–2008 period (Bordjan & Božič 2009), it was approximately at 75% at the beginning of the summer and at 85% at the end. That year no fledged Pochards were observed at the site. In September, Pochards started to gather and reached a maximum of 602 individuals on 20 Oct 2017. This is so far the highest number of counted Pochards at Medvedce and almost twice as high as the previous record (Bordjan & Božič 2009, own data). Astonishingly, there were even more Pochards in 2016 on the much smaller Rače fishponds, when J. Novak (pers. comm) counted 822 individuals on 25 Oct feeding at Veliki ribnik. With the exception of Lakes Ptuj and Ormož (L.Božič pers.comm.), such high numbers Iz ornitološke beležnice From the ornithological notebook Acrocephalus 38 (172/173): 217–231, 2017 were observed only on Lake Cerknica in 1995 (Bordjan 2012). The peak of Pochards counted in 2016 and 2017 was recorded at the end of October, which is slightly later than the peak observed in Rački ribniki–Požeg Nature Park in 1985–1995 (Vogrin 1998). The record was confirmed by the Slovenian Rarities Committee – KRED as the 8th for Slovenia (category A).
