MUZEJSKA DOKUMENTACIJA MUSEUM DOCUMENTATION
LETNA KONFERENCA CIDOC LJUBLJANA'93 m
Od 10. - 16. septembra 1993 je bila Ljubljana prvič gostiteljica mednarodne konference s področja muzejske dejavnosti v naši državi. Konferenca Icomovega komiteja za dokumentacijo Cidoc je pomenila za Slovenijo veliko mednarodno srečanje s poudarkom na mednarodnem sodelovanju med muzeji zahoda in vzhoda.
Konference seje udeležilo več kot 230 udeležencev iz 29 držav Evrope, Kanade in Amerike.
Konferenca je dosegla visoko strokovno raven, s 55 predavatelji iz vseh delov sveta, sodelujočimi predstavniki Mednarodnega muzejskega sveta in Mednarodnega sklada fondacije Getty.
Za slovenske muzealce konferenca pomeni napredek in pobudo za pospešitev mednarodnega sodelovanja in izmenjavo informacij na področju muzejske dokumentacije in na konkretnih projektih.
Novost za Slovenijo je ustanovitev devete Delovne skupine v okviru Cidoca, t.j. Etno delovne skupine, katere predsednica je Alenka Simikič iz Slovenskega etnografskega muzeja, kar pomeni napredek v uveljavljanju vloge Slovenije v Cidocu.
Eden od bistvenih zaključkov Cidocove konference je tudi podpora idejnemu projektu MIDOM, ki deluje v sklopu Slovenskega etnografskega muzeja z naslovom »Postavitev nacionalnih standardov«.
Cidoc je eden izmed 25 odborov pri Mednarodnem muzejskem svetu (Icom) in predstavlja mednarodno povezavo na področju dokumentacije in računalniške obdelave podatkov naravne in kulturne dediščine vseh članov, ki so v Unescu.
Slovenija je bila sprejeta v organizacijo Icom kot polnopravna članica na Generalni skupščini Icoma oktobra 1992 v Quebecu, Kanada, Ljubljana pa izbrana za kraj Cidocove konference v letošnjem letu.
Priprave na konferenco so se odvijale več kot leto dni v Slovenskem etnografskem muzeju, kjer je deloval Nacionalni organizacijski odbor, ki je usmeril vse napore v pripravo programa konference in s temo konference »Mednarodno sodelovanje: soočenje z izzivi muzejske dokumentacije v vzhodnih in zahodnih državah« spodbudil udeležbo velikega števila predavateljev in tudi udeležencev iz vzhodne Evrope (Albanije, Estonije, Rusije, Češke, Madžarske, Poljske, Romunije in Slovaške). Za mnoge izmed njih je bila to prva priložnost za udeležbo na letni konferenci Cidoc.
Muzejska dokumentacija
Po besedah enega od govornikov konference - Ecaterine Geber iz CIMECa, Bukarešta, Romunija »...ta konferenca pomeni korak naprej pri odpiranju vrat nekdaj zaprtih družb, za del udeležencev in prehod za druge skozi odprta vrata... Izziv za iskanje novih oblik izobraževanja v prihodnosti...«.
Konferenca je v okviru teme usmerila vso pozornost na regionalne in nacionalne pobude in sodelovanje pri pripravi centralnih baz podatkov, standardov, terminologije, uporabo dokumentacije pri varovanju kulturne dediščine pred krajo in na nove oblike in možnosti sodelovanja med muzeji vzhoda in zahoda.
Poleg številnih referatov, zasedanj in predstavitev delovnih skupin je bilo predstavljenih več projektov muzejske dokumentacije iz različnih držav, vključno s Slovenijo (NARCISSE, Francija, VAN EYCK, Nizozemska, REAL, Avstrija in Slovenija, HYPERMUSE, Velika Britanija, IMAHGE, Švica in drugi). Na računalniških - demonstracijah je bila Slovenija prisotna kar s petimi projekti.
V sklopu srečanj po konferenci 16. septembra 1993 se je odvijal seminar »Knjižnice v muzejih in galerijah«, na Ljubljanskem gradu so se srečali arheologi na temo »Dokumentacija arheološkega gradiva« z zanimivimi mednarodnimi in slovenskimi prispevki in računalniškimi predstavitvami. Organizirane pa so bile tudi štiri vrste delavnic o terminološki kontroli, podatkovnih modelih, mednarodnih standardih in projektnem vodenju.
Konferenca Cidoc Ljubljana'93 je bila za slovenske muzealce izredna priložnost za predstavitev njihovega dela na mednarodni platformi ter koristen proces za izmenjavo informacij in pobud za sodelovanje pri urejanju muzejske dokumentacije.

THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF CIDOC LJUBLJANA'93
From 10 to 16 September 1993 Ljubljana hosted for the first time a conference on museum activities. The conference of the International Documentation Committee CIDOC was an important international event for Slovenia which focused on international collaboration between museums in West and East. The conference was attended by more than 230 participants from 29 European countries, Canada and USA.
According to the CIDOC International Organizing Committee and the participants, the CIDOC conference in Ljubljana was on a high professional level, with 55 speakers from abroad, and the representatives of ICOM and the Getty Grant Program.
On the other hand, it was also a major event for Slovene museums, paving the way faster progress and better international collaboration, and exchange of museum documentation information and concrete projects.
Moreover, the establishment, during the conference, of the ninth CIDOC Working Group i.e. the Ethno WG, with Alenka Simikic from the Slovene Ethnographic Museum as its chair, was yet another step towards the recognition of the Slovenia's role in CIDOC.
Muzejska dokumentacija
In its conclusions, the CIDOC conference gave support to the project MIDOM -established within the framework of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, entitled »Setting the National Standards of Museum Documentation«.
CIDOC is one of the 25 committees within the International Museum Council (ICOM), serving as an international link in the field of documentation and computerized data processing of the national and culture heritage of all UNESCO members.
Slovenia was admitted as a full member of ICOM at the ICOM General Assembly in Quebec, Canada, October 1992, which chose Ljubljana as the venue of the CIDOC conference this year.
The preparations of the conference took more than a year. The Slovene Organizing Committee worked in the Slovene Ethnographic Museum and put every effort into the development of the conference programme based on the theme »International ggg
Collaboration: Meeting the Documentation Challenges Facing Museums in East and West«. -
In this context it encouraged and succeeded in ensuring the participation of a large number of speakers as well as participants from Eastern Europe (Albania, Estonia, Russia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Rumania and Slovakia). For many of them this was the first opportunity to attend one of the CIDOC meetings.
In the words of one of the speakers - Ecatarina Geber, from CIMEC, Bucharest... »this conference was a step forward in opening the gates of the formerly closed societies for part of participants, and crossing the open gates for the others... The future challenge for the eastern world is to learn how to deliver culture information.«
The conference focused mainly on regional and national initiatives, coordination efforts in setting the central database standards, terminology, the use of documentation to protect culture property from theft and new aspects of cooperation between museums in East and West.
In addition to the formal papers and discussions, there were also meetings of working groups and computer demonstrations of several museum documentation projects of different countries, including Slovenia,(NARCISSE, France, VAN EYCK, Netherlands, REAL, Austria and Slovenia, HYPERMUSE, UK, IMAHGE, Switzerland and others).
Part of the post-conference meetings held on 16 September 1993 was a seminar on »Libraries in Museums and Galleries«; the archaeologists met at the Ljubljana Castle and discussed »Documentation of Archaeological Materials«.
Additionally four different workshops dealt with terminology control, data modelling, international standards and project management.
The 1993 Annual Conference of CIDOC was for Slovenia a unique opportunity to present the work of its museum experts to an international forum, and benefit from the exchange of information and views, thus gaining a valuable insight into international trends in museum documentation.
