Omenili smo že prej Belgijo in Avstrijo. Neke vrste mravlje, imenovane termiti, zgrade velikanska mravljišča, tudi do 15 j čevljev visoka. Delavci grade in vzdržujejo to termitsko državo. Oni rede in pitajo kraljico in vojake. Toda zaenkrat Francoz odbija komunizem. Višarska polena SPISAL NARTE VELIKONJA Kako je moralo priti do vaških straž in domobrancev Opis dogodkov med okupacijo v Rovtah nad Logatcem. (Konec). "In vidva jo bosta kosila!" "Nu, kaj čemo o tem govoriti," skomigne bajtar. In jo vidi razorano in čudnio premetano. Sveže so, vonjava prsti jih izdaja. Hvala Šimenci, Žari, hvala Tinetu si-roteju, ki je pridobil toliko MI DAJEMO IN IZMENJAVAMO EAGLE ZNAMKE THE MAY CO'S BASEMENT zemlje! MOTHER'S DAY Our Mother's Day is past, but let every day in May be her day. It is most fitting that Mother's Day should be kept during the month devoted to our heavenly Mother. What return, after all, can we make to her who takes the place of God in your regard? We can never know the depth of the love which made her suffer and bear so much for us. Words and gifts are the outward expression of our gratitude and our respect, but they cannot in any adequate measure repay what we owe her. The best return we can make is to show ourselves dutiful, respectful, obedient sons, and daughters assuring her by our lives that all her care was not in vain. Fray for her especially during May. Receive Holy Communion for her, and beg of the Divine Son. of Mary to shower His best gifts on her whom you will never be able to repay. He was right, of course, but hi:.' statement dogs not go far enough. There must be some effective olgan.za.tion behind the ball and bat. .While baeeball is the Great American Game it is alto a great factor in teaching the youth of America the Great principles of Life as well. This fact has been emphasized -recently by the St. Vitus youths representing us in the CYO Parochial Hard-bell L.ague. With a meager start of twe broken bats and two rained c;u1 games, the spirit Dhown by ttyem is commendable indeed. Last Saturday when it was raining and the field was muddy, the spirit of team play was there. One of the star players (for there are many) Was incapaiitated with a sore foot, but he cams ou anyway, eager to help the morale of the team with the use of his glove for the equipment is not as prevale n as it should be. And speaking of parents it is fit-tine at this time to mention certain specific incidents to prove our point. Chuckle Flynn's dad Helped us 1 with transportation several. times. J. R. Ausec's pop was there with his car last Saturday too. also catching for him when the w»ather was not what it should have been. Rolick's pap-has been a regular follower of the team and tells of how he ha: been hitting fungess to Rolick, the younger; also he had a new pair of spikes and quite anxious to try them out last week. We must continue to encourage our youth to look forward to the baseball uniform, as the ideal, rather than the military one; for the future attitude of America must continue to be a peaceful one. We hope the Brodnik bsy didn't get a bawling' out on our account for the chores he was supposed to have done went unattended until the interest of the team was done with. Across the street you could almost see the smile on Barber Smole's approval as his kid, Lefty Smole, comes out weekly for the team. And last and perhaps most appropriate, because of Mother's Day is the case mentioned in an earlier paragraph. Last Saturday, when it was raining quite hard, Ma-cerol's mom consented to bandage a hurt foot for the promising athlete and sent him out to us by street car despite the fact that it was almost obivous that the team would not play. This is the cue. ' It may strike one, not familiar with the spirit of youth to remark somewhat smugly that it is ridiculous to play ball when the weather is what it Apple blossoms arc bloomins hero In the State of Washington.
