Gregorija Velikega | St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Church Sveti Duh kot »duša cerkve« Noben evangelist ne opisuje Jezusovega delovanja tako dosledno v odnosu do božjega odrešenjskega načrta, kot Luka. Bog je sklenil svet odrešiti in Jezus je tisti, ki je ta božji sklep uresničil. Odtod vedno ponavljajoči se „mora", v Lukovem pripovedovanju: „Tako je pisano in tako je bilo treba Kristusu trpeti ..." (v. 46b) in prav tako je bilo treba „v njegovem imenu oznaniti pokoro..." (v. 47). Jezus deluje tako, daj uresničuje božjo zamisel odrešenja človeškega rodu. To pa je mogoče razbrati v svetem pismu.[ Luka torej ni samo zapisoval dogodkov iz Jezusovega življenja, ampak jih je vrednotil v luči božje zamisli odrešenja, zato se je vse moralo tako zgoditi, kot seje dejansko zgodilo. Jezusovo odrešenjsko delo Luka vrednoti teološko. Vse Jezusovo delo, zlasti smrt in vstajenje, motri tako, kot apostol Pavel (prim. 1 Kor 15, 3-4) v luči svetega pisma, ki naznanja zveličanje vsega človeštva: „In vse bo videlo božje zveličanje" (Iz 40, 5). Jezus je torej tik pred odhodom v nebesa apostolom dejal, da je storil vse tako, kakor je pisano in nato naročil, naj to oznanijo svetu. Krščansko oznanilo se je od vsega začetka glasilo tako kot pridiganje Jezusa Kristusa: spreobrnite se, da se vam odpustijo grehi! Od Janezove pridige se krščansko oznanilo razlikuje v tem, da oznanja odpuščanje grehov v Jezusovem imenu, kar ne pomeni „v imenu Jezusa ali namesto Jezusa", ampak da je odpuščanje grehov mogoče doseči samo zaradi Jezusovega odrešenja. Jezus je sprava za naše grehe. Njegovo ime je odrešenje in izhodišče evangelija, to je veselega sporočila o odrešenju. To oznanilo se mora začeti v Jeruzalemu in mora obseči vse narode (v. 47b). V soboto, 4. maja 2013, se je na kratkem gostovanju v Kanadi in Ameriki tudi pri nas ustavil Obrtniški moški pevski zbor iz Šmarij pri Jelšah. Pod vodstvom dirigenta g. Franca Plohla so peli med večerno sveto mašo in po maši so dodali še osem pesmi v obliki kratkega koncerta. Sponsor gostovanja zbora je g. Anton Škrabl, ki vodi podjetje Orglarstvo Škrabl. Program je povezovala ga. Marija Ahačič Polak. Po programu v cerkvi smo se skupaj z našimi pevci in čani župnijskega sveta zaustavili še na večerji in družabnem klepetu v naši dvorani. The Moste Reverend Daniel Joseph Miehm Auxiliary Bishop of Hamilton, Ordained Bishop May 7, 2013 V torek, 7. maja 2013 je bil vhamiltonski baziliki, Daniel Joseph Miehm posvečen za škofa. Postal je hamiltonski pomožni škof. Glavni posvečevalec je bil hamiltonski škof Douglas Crosby, OMI, soposvečevalca pa Anthony F. Tonnos in Richard W. Smith, nadškof iz Edmontona. Na slovesnosti je bil tudi Torontski kardinal Tomas Collins. Za svoje škofovsko geslo si je izbral moto »Fides Per Caritatem« - »Vera, ki deluje po ljubezni« iz pisma apostola Pavla Galačanom 5,6. Pri maši je sodelovali veliko število škofov, duhovnikov, stalnih diakonov in božje ljudstvo je napolnilo baziliko in se dvorano spodaj. Ob koncu maše je novi škof Danijel nagovoril vse navzoče, potem je šel po bazili gor in dol in podelil svoj škofovski blagoslov, prav tako tudi tistim v dvorani spodaj. Pri maši je pel zbor, ki so ga spremljale orgle in orkester. Po maši so bili vsi povabljeni na okrepčilo v Nicholas Mancini center zadaj za baziliko. Sunday's Readings Ascension of the Lord First Reading Acts 1:1-11 Jesus gives his disciples many demonstrations of his resurrection, and promises the Spirit. Response: God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Second Reading Heb 9:24-28; 10:19-23 Jesus, our true high priest, has entered the sanctuary of heaven. Gospel Luke 24:46-53 Jesus, the crucified, risen and ascended Lord, is our way to the Father. "Why are you men from Galilee standing here looking into the sky?" Illustration The little boy looked up into the sky. He was what - nine or ten years of age? He had been told that God lived in heaven, and that heaven was "up there" somewhere. Today would be a good day to see if he could see right into heaven. The sky was blue, so blue, and not a cloud to be seen. He went outside and stood in front of his house and craned his neck to look piercingly into the blue. He stood there for some time, but to no avail. The blue refused to open up. God remained hidden. That same little boy also looked for God in his school playground, together with his classmates. They had been told, in class, that "God is everywhere", and so, during their playtime, they point- ed to various objects. "God is behind that wall," said one. "God is in that bin," said another. They strove to outdo one another in finding intriguing places where God might be found. The idea of God being everywhere fascinated them. Finally that little boy found out that God also resides inside his own heart. He was told that God knows our every thought and feeling, that God is closer to us than we are to ourselves. It was an idea that caused the boy to appreciate that God must be a loving God, "if he wants to know me as much as that"; that the God who created this world also lives close to the inner self of each person, and knows them through and through. Gospel Teaching Today's feast of the Ascension marks God's closeness to us, and not, as one could think, God's leaving us. Jesus seemed to leave this world on the day that he died, and his disciples were devastated. They felt that the adventure was over, and this cruel world had done its worst. But the day of resurrection tells us that God lives, and because God lives, we too shall live with God. For many days Jesus appeared to his friends so that they would know for sure that he is truly risen, and that they could now witness to his resurrection. Jesus also wanted to teach his followers the meaning of his life, and why things happened the way they did. This way of life will now become the pattern of their own lives. It is the way of the crucified and risen Lord of life. As God lives and loves us all, so we are called to live and love one another. This will involve suffering, as we come face to face with our own weaknesses, and with this world's sorrows and sins. The way of life that Jesus has shown us is a conversion of our hearts to God, so that the forgiveness of sins may happen. We will not solve this world's woes by hostile or aggressive actions. We will ease the sufferings of people, if we persevere in loving them through all the trials of life. Application When Jesus was lifted up from the earth at his ascension, he did not go into some faraway part of the sky. He went to "sit at God's right hand". And God is close to us always. So too is the Lord: "I am with you always, until the end of time." At this moment of his departing from our eyes, Jesus promised to send us his Spirit, who will dwell within us, to strengthen us and to be our guide. Jesus left us in one form, only to return to us in another. He has not left us orphans. The disciples continued to look up into the sky, just like the little boy once did. They had to be reminded, by two men in white, that they need not stay here looking upwards. We are not left alone. It is the same message that was given on the day of resurrection itself: "Why look among the dead for someone who is alive?" They went back to Jerusalem, not sad at heart but rejoicing. Jesus is alive, and the Spirit will come to them. The Lord is faithful to his promises. V nedeljo, 5. maja smo imeli v dvorani London-Triglav mesečno sveto mašo in pri tej sveti maši smo se spomnili vseh mater, ki praznujejo v tem času. Ob koncu so vsem ženam podarili nageljček v spomin, dva fanta pa sta recitirala in zapela pesmice za vse mamice. PRAZNIK PRVEGA SV. OBHAJILA_ V naši župniji imamo prvo sveto obhajilo že dolga leta na zadnjo nedeljo v mesecu maju. Na ta dan bo nekaj naših otrok prvič prejelo Jezusa v svoja srca. Da bi lahko vsi doživljali lepoto tega praznika bomo imeli samo eno sveto mašo in sicer ob 10:00h dopoldne. Začeli bomo, če bo vreme dopuščalo, pri kipu Marije pomočnice nato nadaljevali s sveto mašo v cerkvi. Prvoobhajanci bodo imeli v mesecu maju neposredno pripravo na praznik, v soboto 25. maja dopoldne pa bodo pristopili tudi k zakramentu svete pokore - spovedi. SLOMSKOVO OLTARNO DRUŠTVO_ Za SLOMŠKOVO OLTARNO DRUŠTVO je PRAZNIK Marije Pomočnice, 24. maj, velik dan, ko se vse članice zberemo pri sv. maši in z litanijami in blagoslovom počastimo Marijo. Tudi letos vabimo vse članice, na srečanje v petek, 24. maja. Po sv. maši še kratko razvedrilo. POKOJNI_ V torek, 7. maja ob 10:00h dopoldne je bila smo obhajali pogrebno mašo za pokojno MARIJO PUSCHER, ki je umrla že 25. aprila. Po maši smo žaro pokopali na Mountanview Gardens Cemetery v Stoney Creek. V ponedeljek, 6. maja 2013 pa je odšla k Bogu po večno plačilo naša faranka VERA IVANA STANIŠA. V svojem 87. letu starosti je zadnji čas preživali v starostnem domu. Pokojna je ležala v Donald V. Brown Funeral Home na Lake Ave v Stoney Creek. V četrtek popoldne smo za pokoj njene duše zmolili rožni venec, v petek 10. maja OB 10:00 h dopoldne pa smo opravili še pogrebno sveto mašo in nato jo pokopali na Slovenskem delu pokopališča Gate of Heaven. Iskreno sožalje vsem domačim in sorodnikom. Pokojni pa večni mir in pokoj.
