BESEDA IZ NARODA SVETI MARTI!!, Z0PET Sl TO! V torek, 6. novembra, volitve V državi Ohio in še ponekod drugod bomo prihodnji torek volili mestne župane in mestne svete, mestne sodnike in odločali o vrsti predlogov, ki nam bodo predloženi. V državah New Jersey in Virginia bodo v torek volili tudi guvernerje. Le, kjer so kandidati izrazito strankarski in so bili tesno povezani z republikansko administracijo v Washingtonu, utegne morda imeti kaj vpliva Watergate zadeva in vse, kar je v zvezi z njo. Semetove $150. Iskre-re čestitke in .milijonkrat zahvaljen! Isti dan mi je sobrat Fr. Francis Quinn dal $10 in Fr. Charles Docherfy $15 za avto s. Daniele. Tako smo na vigili-jo Mis. nedeljo že imeli $180. Pohitimo! In dajmo velikodušno! Cev. HAPPY ELDERS AWAIT 11-DAY FLORIDA TRIP On Nov. 9th a busload of Happy Elders, most of whom are Slovenes belonging to member clubs of the Federation of American Slovenian Pensioners Clubs, will depart from Cleveland for an exciting 11-day Florida tour, going down on the Eastern courts, and returning via Central Route. All are already anxious to get to Florida to see the sights and to see their Florida friends. To many it is the first trip to Florida, and they of course have many new and beautiful sights to see- Some have been to Florida one and more times, but they want to enjoy a comfortable and carefree bus tour, or visit or call friends, see new sights, and see how Florida has changed. To readers of this article who reside in Florida or will be vacationing there when we are there, you may be interested in knowing that we will be at the Sam-sula Hotel on Sunday, Nov. 11, where the New Smyrna Slovene Pensioners Club has assured us that they will have a dinner prepared for us. Overnite we will stay at the Great Western Islander Lodge. A good chance for us to meet you, and for you to surprise us. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (Nov. 12, 13 and 14) we will be sightseeing in the Orlando area, and at night will be at the Days Inn (Orlando Altamonte North). On Thursday and Friday, Nov 15th and 16th we will sightsee in the Tampa-St. Pete’s area, staying overnight at the Tampa Days Inn- Then toward home (sightseeing along the way) via route through Atlantic north. In spite of all the sights and friends we have seen, I suspect that we will all be glad we are on the way home, even though we could be coming back to bad weather. Our group includes people from Cleveland, Euclid, Jefferson, Maple Heights, Niles, Independence, Girard, Warren and McDonald Ohio. So if you want to see some Slovene Pensioners from Ohio, look us up. Will not write names of the individuals on the tour as it is not good policy to let everyone know that our homes will be vacant during our tour. Na Veselo svidenje, AL SAJEVIC CELEBRATION PLANNED FOR AMLA ANNIVERSARY Sunday, November 4, 1973 will be a special day for all officers of ADZ. Some of you will be honored — those who have served with their respective lodge for 25 years or more—and others will be there to help honor these people. To show our appreciation for these many years of service, the Committee in charge is celebrating with a Dinner-Dance and has a delightful program planned for your pleasure. Hočevar Catering has been engaged for the banquet— the King of Polkas, Frank Yan-‘ kovic — for dancing. Jennie Fatur and Frank Kokal of Zarja Singing Group will entertain us with a few songs, and Johnny Hrovat will delight you with his renditions on the button box accordion- Need we say more! As you all know, these hono-rees have been the back-bone of our organization. They have spent years of hard work, bringing in new members, promoting fraternal spirit amongst their own lodges — this in itself de- serves recognition. Our Supreme President, John Sušnik, will present each honoree with a “certificate of recognition”. Frank J. Lausche has accepted our invitation as the principal speaker and we know you will be impressed with his speech. There are two indexes, one. topical and one alphabetical, it iV> printed on the finest quality .book paper, and is plastic spiral-bound so that it will stay open on organ, piano and 'music Stand'.: Thin new volume contains a variety of hymns for use at all sacred i (.functions: seven (7) for the beginning of Mass; nine (9) for Offertory, plus .six additional yerseD from the Entrance hymns; so. ven (7) Communion hymns, an d six extra verses from the Entrance hymns; three (3) for Dismissal; two (2) for Blessed Sacrament (Benediction); one (1) Advent hymn; eight (8) for Christmas; five (5) Lenten and five (5) Easter hymns; two (2) are for Sacred Heart, plus three extra verses from one of the Benediction hymns; there are sixteen (16) songs in' honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, more than in any modern American hymnal; and five (5) for the Faithful Departed. One person working alone cannot produce such a collection- I had much help: Father Leopold Mihelich, our pastor at Holy Rosary Church in Denver, continued to be' the guiding force behind this work. He selected many of the songs, obtained new, original material, and made sure all translations were accurate and acceptable. He gave me much encouragement and moral support, for which I am deeply grateful. Our poet, Ed Krasovich, now of Cody, Wyoming, despite many other responsibilities, did his usual superb job of translating many of the texts. His artistic hard work will help all who use this book to reach a higher spiritual level. Many thanks, Ed! Other translations are from the collection compiled by the late Father Joseph Kapus, who, before his tragic death in an automobile accident, served several parishes in Kansas. His translations were done by the late Ivan Zorman of Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Frank Mihelich, choir director from Gilbert, Minnesota, kindly shared his excellent collection with us, and offered much useful advice- Thank you! A unique feature of this volume is the inclusion of several beloved Slovenian folk melodies, with original sacred texts. This beautiful new poetry is from the pen of the renowned Slovenian poet, Father Gregor Mali of Buenos Aires, Argentina. We are truly thankful for his generous sharing of his poetic gifts. When all the texts and music are together, it is necessary to seek an expert to proofread the material. Many thanks to the great Slovenian master of sacred music, Msgr. Gregor Zafošnik, who meticulously examined and corrected all the manuscripts in the book, for his hard work and helpful advice. Since 1949, Msgr. Zafošnik has been organist and choirmaster at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Maribor- Additionally, he is a productive composer and teacher. Greater Glory To God costs $5.00 per copy. However, large volume printing will allow me to give a generous discount on quantity orders. Please write for details. In addition, the Slovenian texts to all songs, including Father Mali’s new poems in their entiretj'-, is available for $1.00 a copy (not sold separately)- There are still some copies of the original Glory To God left at $2.00 per copy; the Slovenian text is 25 cents extra- And there are plenty of the piano accordion solo Sunrise In The Mountains, at $1.00 a copy. This is a total of $3.25 if bought separately, but will cost you only $2.50 if you take all three together.
