Z zidavo novih stanovanjskih hiš bodo začeli v vidni meri šele 1947 in pomanjkanje stanovanj bo trajalo vse do leta 1948, trdijo vladni eksperti. Ekonomska in socialna zgradba se stopnjema sovjeti-zira. Njegovi sopotniki so razstavljali vsa sovjetska znamenja. Partizani so zadeli terno! Preudarni Jugoslovani starejše generacije so opazova-li Tita z vso previdnostjo. Ustvaritev narodne enakopravne federativne Jugoslavije, v kateri bodo imele vse narodnosti svoje narodne pravice. Srbi so Titov najbolj resen problem. 2. Prave demokratične pravice in svoboda. Z take kriminalce ni nobenega usmiljenja, pač pa zaslišanje, sodba, mučenje, stradanje in smrt. — Steve F. Pirnat. MARY'S NEWS THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION "Thou art all fail', O Mary, and there is no stain in thee." Mary is the fairest and the rarest, the purest and sweetest of God's creatures. She alone of all the daughters of Eve was exempted from the taint of original sin and the stain of actual sin. God chose Her as the most worthy to become His Mother. We can imagine how she cherished this grace, she, who considered herself unworthy to be His handmaid. Thus does God reward the pure and humble soul. She is a worthy model for us to imitate. She. the Immaculate Virgin, aids young men and women to lead pure and upright lives. Have recourse to Her in life's temptations. A LITTLE ABOUT OUR BASKETBALL TEAM According to Jack Koosed, superintendent at Glenville, we have a nice group of boys on our two teams. We felt proud to hear such a compliment. Hope we will hear it for the rest of the year too. Serious business, Indeed, are the practice games. The boys play very hard and are improving themselves steadily. DAVES SHOES WIN TWO FROM ACME CLEANERS TO TIE FOR LEAD The long reign of first place by the Acme Dry Cleaners was brought to an end last Sunday evening. It was the Daves Shoes quint that brought about the disruption of the Cleaners reign by handing them a resounding two-game reverse, thus enabling the Shoe-men to gain a foothcld, on first place with the Acme Dry Čleaners. A surprise upset was recorded when the Kocih Decorators took two straight from the Don Bospo Saints. The Saints 3uint lost valuable ground in losing two •femes to the Decorators. Had the encounter resulted in the Saints favor they would have been right in the thick of battle for first place. The two game win brings the Decorators within fvie games of first place. At last the Zlates Marketmen quint ended their losing streak at the expense of the Svetek Funeral Home. The Marketmen gained the better half of the encounter by taking two games from the Funeralmen. The two game 'setback pushed the Funeralmen from sxith place into number seven position. The Prince & Burke quint extended their winning streak to eight games when they trounced the Nottingham Dry Cleaners for three games. This streak enabled the Prince and Burke five to move into sixth place while their closest rival, the Svetek Funeral Home were only to win one game from the Zlate's Market quint. A TIE FOR FIRST It was J. Urankar and J. Kumel 572, 529 respectively that spelled a double victory and a tie for first place for the Daves Shoes. J. Hočevar with his 514 count greatly aided the Shoeman cause. For the spell-bound Acnie Dry Celaners, Stan Robinhood and C. Osolin with 541 and 501 respectively were highh. DARK HORSES TAKE TWO The Kocin Decorators put a big dent in the Don Bosco five's chance of getting a hold on first place by taking two games. E. Grosel with a 491 series was the big bombshell for the Decorators followed bv S. Barba with a 481 total. For the ill-fated Saints crew F. Ferra 534 and J. Ferra Sr. with a 481 series saved the team from complete destruction. PRINCE & BURKE CREW MAKE IT EIGHT STRAIGHT fine "cold wave" permanent. To say the least, Acme's have a faithful bunch of rooters. What happened just now that all the aoise comes from our Acme rooters? Notice Stan Robinhood hit the 6-7-10 split. Take a bow, Stan. He did more, he treated his team to some "Pep." Wowee. would Prank Ferra's pants match Father Vic's blue shirt. Loud. Mrs. Brodnick was at the alleys Sunday to view her son and grandson bowl. She looked very interested indeed! A new player was added to the Don Sosco team. Charlie Smerdel sought the posiiion and, it seems as though he was accepted. "Whistle while you work," is the tune Whitey Koporc tried to hum to himself, as he waited for his turn. Not lonesome by any chance are you, Whitey??? Oh yes, Whitey tells us he ircned his own shirt for once. Not a bad job either. MOVIES TO BE SHOWN Plans have been tentatively set to hold a movie of the "Life of John Bosco." We have often heard of this great friend of youth; now we will have the opportunity to learn more particulars about his life The proceeds will be turned over to ;ur athletic fund, to support our youths in the different sports. We tnew and trust all of you will give us your gracious and loyal support, and, therefore, we intend to go through with our proposed project. Her numerous friends have always known her to be kind, gentle and unselfish, which is most admirable. St. Vitus and Jan Adams Schools boast of her as an alumna, and classmates recall with pleasure her leadership and scholarly attianments at both institutions of learning. This little lady, whom some intimate friends dare to call "Rusty" (yes, because of her hair) is a charter member of the Baraga Glee Club and says she would never exchange the ten BEST years of her youth to live them over otherwise, for her most cherished memories are those connected with her glee club activities. Just recently, she took oath of office as president for the second consecutive term, altho having served in this capacity iri"previous years. The Young Ladies' Sodality, St. Vitus Theatre Guild and CYO also claim her as their own—in which organizations she is always willing to participate in Catholic action. "Annie's" avocation is sewing, but for a livelihood, she lent her support to the war effort, by working a full-time schedule at the Cleveland Twist Drill Co. Her hobbies are many— dancing, bowling, swimming and lest we forget—her main activity in these war-time years was corresponding with some TWENTY servicemen. (Can anyone beat this record—we challenge a competitor!) Of these, one soldier, of course, who answers to the name of "JOE" (a real G.I. Joe, eh, Frannie?) received letters more frequently than did the others. Speaking of favorites, when it comes to food, whether served a la home style a la Alpine, it's always breaded veal cutlet, with tomato sauce and freoch fried potatoes. She does play the piano, tho, and loves to listen to Frank Munn on the Waltz Time program, and she attends most all the operettas and plays at Cain Park. Her favorite songs at the present time are "Till the End of Time" and "Because"—we wonder why? Spare moments are spent mounting snapshots in albums and compiling scrap-books, especially while enjoying a good comedy program on the radio. Ameriška HI Domovina AMERICAN HOME CONDENSED NEWS FROM OUR HOME FRONT Cleveland, Ohio Saturday, December 8, 1945 Hotel Statler, Cleveland, O. Dear Sir: The undersigned most emphatically protests, in our own name, as well as our subscribers, against the ridicule of our beautiful Slovenian songs on station WGAR. This massacre of our beautiful language and beautiful song soccurred on November 29th, on the Range Riders program at 5:15. The "would-be" singer started the lovely song "Moja dekle je -se mlada," but he evidently doesn't know any of the words, because after the first two words of the song, he "sang": blah, blah, blah! nstead of the words. It was simply disgusting! And to fhink that we have given free front-page publicity to these Range Riders! Reports have reached us that in some places the radio was turned off instantly—another will never again listen to the Range Riders—and EVEN a 12-year-old boy exclaimed: That isn't nice!" We are sure that station WGAR has no intention of allowing numerous Slovenian listeners to be offended in any way, and will do everything in its power to rectify the incident mentioned above.
