Praga hoče preprečiti nacijski pač Načelnik nemške delegacije te sestane z Benešem Praga, 30. avg. — Češkoslovaška vlada, parlamentarni odseki, voditelji političnih strank in ve-ščaki sestavljajo nov načrt z namenom, da potolažijo sudetske Nemce in druge narodnostne skupine. ča, niti zastoj srca, temveč okvara življensko važnih središč mod (hrbteničnim mozgom in možgani zavoljo zastrupitve z ogljikovo kislino in pomanjkanja kisika. Peter in Jackie sta postala tu najpozorneji* gledalca. Zanimive poskuse k nadaljujejo. ANN RAUNIKAR, f , Wolverinea, Lodge 677. Comments On This and That , By IVAN KOLEK, Editor ' AGAIN SNPJ DAY IS HEKE! This is the fourth year that the SNPJ English Speaking lodges are celebrating SNPJ Day with excursions, games, songs, and speeches. The aenior lodges and federations are cooperating as they should. This year the host city is Detroit (Michigan) and the time is next Sunday and Monday—-Labor holiday. The lines af excursion-ists from the East, entire Midwest, and partly from the North-west, leading to the capital of the automobile industry will be crowded next Saturday. SNPJ Day is now a regular institution of our Society; it has come to stay and to be observed every Labor Day. The only que«tion remaining is how SNPJ Day will be observed. The way was charted at the beginning: It ought to be observed by sports, with various groups competing to achieVe some satisfaetion for their training and skill. Nothing harmful in that. It is the America« way of youth's ambition to pass away sparf time and let off surplus energy. Physical exercise in moderation ii beneficial for upbuilding strong muscles and nerve system. But this should not be aH for an SNPJ Day—and, happily, it is not. A culture of heart and thought is also needed to complete a civilized man, and we furnish that by supplying our own art in cultivated song and music and other expressions of enlightenment. And to top ali this, we arrange ali forms of entertainment for young and old. SNPJ Day would not be complete without some demonstration that we are a fraternal organization. So we have responsible members as speakers to remind ali present—members and guests-^ that first of ali we are the SNPJ! No SNPJ Day can be an SNPJ Day without this demonstration and affirmatioh. The responsible local lodge or federation lead-ers may InVlt^ outside speakers and even add a little political color by inviting a pUblic official. Yet this aetion will not make SNPJ Day any bigger or more glorious affair if the fraternal char-aeter of the sponsorship is not made clear and manifest. And do not forget the real purpose behind ali this. The observance of SNPJ Day should be—first, last, and always —for the interests of the Slovene National Benefit Society. v Sports and ali the rest is here for us to serve the Society, and not the Society to serve sports with the rest of it!— Long live SNPJ DAY! i See You in Detroit, SNPJers! CLEVELAND, O.—Oh, how slowly Father Time plodded aloi life's highway, testing our youthful patience to its bursting poi« But now, glory hallelujah! the annual SNPJ Day is here againl Wlth a couple of hurrahs and jubilant expectancy, we wend our way to Detroit, the Mecca of fun and frolic! The bua leavea Saturday at noon from the Slovene National Home on St. CUrtr ave. and will arrive at Detroit about 0:00 p. m. at 1775 W.
