(Ljubljansko Delo, 26. avg. 1968) Ljubljanski sladoled “neoporečen” Ko so v Ljubljani sredi avgusta p r e g 1 edovali prodaj alnice sladoleda, so vzeli v njih 129 vzorcev sladoleda in te kasneje pregledali. SOS študentje OoSembia univerze s® že “v aksip” NEW YORK, N.Y. Malo pred devetimi sta stopila v celico stražnika in ga vklenila. Stražniki so odprli nizka železna vrata in ukazali Alfredu' naprej. V dvorano so prišle priče Mary Stein, policijski stražnik, poveljnik straže in Simon Blumenherz. Bile so glas vpijočega v puščavi. Z užitkom so poslušali njegov tehtni zagovor. Na koncu je poudaril, da ni imel v roki nobene palice, kakor trdi priča Mary Stein, ki bi naj bil BY OWNER — 7 Rm. yellow brk. octagon 4 bdrm., 2 up, 2 down, full bsmt., steel constr., Ig. liv. rm., din. rm., tile kit., gas h.w. ht., 2 car frm gar., Narragansett-Belmont. $27,000, best offer. The weather was perfect, the clams were tender, the music was delightful and our Balina players won top honors. Taking first place was our team composed of Rudy Marn, Frank Doliner, John Orazem, and Stan Slepec. In second place was group of our “youngsters” John Poznik, John. Hrvatin, Anton Skopin, Joe Jerich. Third place was taken by Vic Bergarc, Joe Lipovec, Frank Grk and Stan Carl. The only sour note was our women’s team was defeated by the gals from Euclid Slovenian. The Victorians were composed of Pauline Sajovec, Amy Leskovec, Rose Mihlic, Louise Derica. Our gals, Lil Godec, Nancy Grosel, Mary Kocin and Frances Videtič, did right well for beginners. Better luck next time, gals! Among the visiting dignitaries were George Voinovich, State Re presentative in District 53, Frank Opaskar who is running for judge in the court of Common Pleas. Incidentally both of these gentlemen represented the Collinwood Slovenian Home in all legal affairs. Our clubroom league will get underway starting Monday, Sept. 22. We still have a few openings, so stop in to register. The league bowls on a machine and you can bowl at any time that is convenient. Virtually all of the “must” bills involve appropriations, legislation to operate various Federal activities for the fiscal year, fjo far, eight; of the 13 regular money, bills have been, enacted into law. Action must be completed on the five others, plus a catch-all supplemental measure. The House has completed action on two of the remaining bills, and the House Appropriations Committee has considered all but one of the regular bills — the Foreign Aid appropriations.. Action on the foreign aid funds is being delayed pending final approval of the authorizing legislation. The House Rules Committee apparently intends to stick to its decision not to consider any new legislation. If this decision stands, virtually no new proposals can reach the House Floor — only those measures which could be passed on. the Consent Calendar which requires a unanimous vote or under suspension of the rules which requires a two-thirds vote to pass. The big imponderable in the Congress is the debate over the appointment by President Johnson of Justice Abe Fortas to be Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, How long this debate continues will be the principal factor in determining when Congress adjourns.. Nobody, but nobody can insert life, limb and labor into community services like a team of teen-age volunteers. We cal them TAPS-members of National Foundation March Dimes Teen Age Program. “Our Tap Team calls it a serious business and we have a goal to achieve.” According to Marlene Klein, 16. this year’s March of Dimes Teen-Age Chairman for Cuyahoga County. She also stated “This is t h fourth year that Teens are helping in the fight against birth defects here in Cuyahoga County and this year is going to be TOPS.” Through our Teen Agb Program, we are reaching young adults throughout the country. They are the immediate future parents of our com munity. Forty per cent of American Brides are teenagers, and teenage mothers are the least likely to seek prenatal care. We are trying to educate them to good health habits and the importance of good prenatal care in the future. This is our main goal. The fourth annual year of community service by the Teen. Age Program began with a special orientation meeting of the new Teen Executive Committee held at the Somerset Inn. Tap Chairmen for each district were named and seri ous plans were outlined for the fall. Marlene announced that health Career Scholarship Awards would be presented this year by the March of Dimes Teen Age Program, as they have been in the past to young people entering health professions such as nursing, medicine, occupational and physical therapy and medical social work. The Committee also discussed plans for their up*-coming Youth Conference on Birth Defects which will be held early in the Fall. Another project the Teens will be joining forces in their Annual fundraising event, “Teen-age Tag Day.” The teenagers will corporate their efforts and exchange “tags” for a contribution from shoppers at major shopping centers throughout the country. The March of Dimes Teen Age Program is a year-round educational program striving to inform all Teens about the^ birth defects problem, how they can help, and the health information they need to know, and the hope which lies ahead in treatment and research. Job for Next President One thing is certain in the forthcoming November election, — the Senators again will have a President throwing out the first ball in 1969. For one thing, a new President always wants to show he’s a “man of the people” by attending the first opening day after he has assumed office. For another thing, both Vice-President Hubert Humphrey, the Democratic candidate, and Richard Nixon, the Republican standard-bearer, are baseball fans. Both, incidentally, have performed the ceremonial toss in the absence of the Chief Executive. Humphrey did it this past opening day. Nixon acted for President Eisenhower in the same capacity on one occasion. The new president will have a “double-header” in 1969 because V/ashington will get the All-Star Game. And this one is of particular importance because it marks baseball’s centennial, so that means the Presidential presence is a “must.” Harrelson, Banks, Devine To Head Vietnam Troupe New York, N.Y. — Sluggers Ken Harrelson and Ernie Banks will head a delegation of major leaguers on a tour of Vietnam service bases in November, Commissioner William Eckert has announced.
