Sf. Helens sinoči zopet izbruhnil VANCOUVER, Wash. — Sinoči ob 9.11 (PDT) je vulkan Ml. St. Helens zopet izbruhnil. * Valley, Neb. "Gorkij, ZSSR — Nepotrjena poročila govorijo o velikem štrajku delavcev v neki tovarni v tem mestu. Delavci so štrajkali baje zaradi nevzdržnih gospodarskih razmer in zaradi pomanjkanja osnovnih življenjskih potrebščin v lokalnih trgovinah. Štrajki v Sovjetski zvezi niso dovoljenj. *New York, N.Y. Titovskemu tisku so očitali zaradi kritike glede Afganistana sovražnost do Sovjetov. We can read the paper er a book while the music is playing, or talk to each other or call a relative or friend. Or do something useful around the house. Or do notheing. Why is it always necessary to be doing something? A little loafing is good for the heart. There’s too much tension around ? no. People’s failure to slow down is causing tension, I believe. Look at the turtle — he moves slowljf and lives to be more than 125 years old. Doctors say exercise will IN MEMORY OF THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF DEATH mm HOČEVAR Who passed away June 16,1970 Peaceful be thy rest, dear mother It is sweet to breathe thy name; As in life we loved you dearly, So in death we do the same. Sadly missed by: Charles — son Albina & Betty — daughters and Grandchildren help people live longer. I exercise during the day and before I go to bed, but at bedtime it must be very light exercise, very light, otherwise one doesn’t get relaxed. The doctor recommends this and I have found this to be true from my own experience. Instead of watching too much TV — how much wiser it would be — if we used that time for our personal self-development — trying to improve ourselves in the way we would' like to be. Or learn how to repair things around th« house — and save money doing it. Paul Whiteman, the great band leader, learned to do cabinet work and make furniture. He said, “The greatest satisfaction I ever received was when I began working with my hands creating things”. Since we have a house I learned to repair many things around the house. And I learned from my brother-in-law, Tony Raile a former home builder, that mdst problems with leaky faucets are — that merely a new washer is needed. In one case it wasn’t washers, it was the 2 stems. So I got two at the hardware store, cost $6.00 and now it’s like new. A plumber would have charged more than $50.00 for a complete new fixture. One thing I’ve learned is that a furnace is almost in-destructibe. If any company tells you— you need a new furnace — be very suspicious. Consult 3 furnace people who have been in business a long time before you do get a new one. Chances are they’ll tell you — your furnace needs only minor repairs. My wife, Bronita, just finished knitting an afghan. That’s one of her hobbies. She likes to garden — tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, carrots. She stopped on corn and string beans — the wild rabbits and birds beat us to it and ate them all up. She likes to watch Crocketts Garden on Chan. 25 for gardening tips. She has^pad and pencil and writes it down. Chan. 25 we recommend for an occasional program. We find we can learn something there. S3. Florida Slovens Oiisb Our meeting was held Sunday, June 1. We celebrated “Fathers Day ’, with ladies serving tlie men. Flow they love that! The men that is. Gh, the women do, too; but does not happen often encugh. Ail our visitors have departed, we are sorry to say, lot more interesting when we have company. While writing this article, the birds are chirping and singing like crazy, pitching woo. Have been for about five or six weeks — goes on from midnight until tile next evening. Mocking birds are a very domineering type of which we have plenty. They express indignation when a dog or cat or person is within sight of their nest. They attack in a minute. Their singing is wonderful, Pretty, pretty - - you’re sweet, Figaro Figaro, etc. It’s great to be alive to hear their love songs calling for mates. Back to our meeting, our club plans a Fashion Show in Feb. or March of 1981. That will be a sight to see. Mrs. Flermina Race of Race Dairy of Euclid will present the show of elaborate costumes of about .30 nations. She bought them while on a world tour some years back. Plans are in the making now. These garments have been presented at some of the fmest clubs in South Florida. More on the subject later on. Do plan your winter vacation now for South Florida and attend this show. Willis Slovenian Phifharmonio to ionr United States A list of advertisements for upcoming concerts in New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall appeared in last week’s New York Times. Among the orchestras slated to appear this fall is the Slovenian Philharmonic of Ljubljana. The concert will be on Sunday evening, October 19, at 8:90. The director is Anton Nanut and the soloists will be Primož Novsak on violin and Miloš Mlejnik on the cello. The three selections listed on the advertisements are Zebre — “Towards Liberty”, which will have its New York premiere, Brahms’ “Double Concerto” and Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony. The orchestra surely will make guest appearances in other American cities, perhaps in Cleveland, but we have no information on this as yet. During its previous guest tour, the Slovenian Philharmonic won solid critical acclaim for its musical performances.
