Consumer protection law is a domain particularly prone to mass infringements, largely due to the dispersal of rather standardized harm among numerous individuals with limited bargaining power and financial capacity. In this context, collective redress mechanisms play a crucial role in securing access to justice and the right to an effective remedy. This need is especially evident within the European Union, where binding secondary legislation addressing collective actions has, to date, been adopted exclusively in the field of consumer protection. Consequently, Member States have likewise concentrated their regulatory efforts on this area. This article examines the development and regulation of collective redress mechanisms for the protection of consumer interests in the European Union and Slovenia, and analyses the practical experiences and challenges in their application.
